Still crickets here in middle Tennessee....
Akron still Martian free, which is OK this week, as I'm trying to get a couple banners finished for Pennsic next week. And my sewing skills are not what they used to be.

And crickets here in Hollywoodland, too!
But wait...not just any crickets! Jiminy! Jiminy Cricket! Any words of advice.
Jiminy: When you wish upon a Star, your dreams come true!
Wait...what? Really?!? Checking email....
TRACKING NUMBER!!!
Edit in: Hmmm, mailed Monday, so two days to get the tracking number to me (Part of that is simply the info not being posted until late in the day, followed by it virtually being tomorrow in Italy at that point). Arriving Friday. 7.4 pounds (Invasion plus a few extras).
Further edit in: Technically speaking, it wasn’t a star. It was Jupiter. Which I suppose was referred to as a “wandering star”, but hey, close enough for fantasy wishes!

Just got my tracking as well.
Was concerned at first because it showed a weight of 1.4lbs
Then I noticed 1 of 2 shipments with the other at 9.4lbs.
Delivery expected Monday at work.
Figures I am taking Monday off ....
The end is in sight!
Just received a flash message from the Umbert-Pens-Saltz observatory, Martian cylinder sighted and projected to impact just north of Nashville sometime tomorrow...
The latest news from Ares.
People of the Earth!
We are very happy to announce that USA fulfillment is finally completed! All rewards to US backers are now in transit, if not delivered already.
We just sent to all interested backer their tracking number.
This leaves CANADA and EUROPE to be fulfilled. The good news for EU backers is that customs told us they are happy with the documents we provided. Our forwarder told us they will get the goods out of customs tomorrow.
Pending any more issue, in the course of the next week, both the Canadian and the German warehouse will receive the shipments and will begin the fulfillment process.
Thanks for your patience and support,
Roberto/Ares
Martians landed 15-20 minutes before the email did
They tried to sneak in while I was napping, but the Brown lander makes a lot of noise on my street.
And the mystery of the weird/lousy delivery service has been solved: the return label says Alliance Dist.
If there is a worst game distributor in the USA, they are probably out of business!

Given that I ordered some flight bases from the Aerodrome store that arrived at Canadian customs on 11 July and I only received them today, I'm not surprised that Canadian deliveries haven't started yet. Seems like the Canadian Border Services Agency staff is mostly on vacation - if so, fair enough. Note that Aerodrome store stuff is usually in customs only a couple of days at most and sometimes in and out the same day.
NASA has detected an object approaching earth that appeared from behind the moon. Calculated trajectory has it hitting somewhere in Maine sometime on Friday. Maine National Guard units have been alerted along with local militias.
Got mine last Thursday and so did my hobby store Owner. Tomorrow night we go at it at the hobby shop. Should be fun.
I didn't get any tracking emails, but two boxes just got dropped off in my office. I thinking I'm catching something and need to get home and see what is in them.
Good day to go home early then Ken, a lot Martian flu seems to be in the air . . . I too just received notice of an incoming UPS package, but its from Missouri, not from space or Indiana, rats! But woe, wait a minute! Martians disguised as a package from a fellow Aerodrome mate! Ah, they decided they did not like Missouri and re-shipped themselves to a more alien environment like Mars, the AZ! Thanks Bob! and now a second launching is seen, incoming again, reinforcements Friday by end of day, or will it be end of Humanity? ? ?
Wow! They looked much larger in the movies. hmm . . . very nice, but not what I was expecting . . .
We cancelled the Zombie Apocalypse here in Santa Clarita. The Martians apparently partied in Fort Wayne, took the drunken Fraternity Express to Sylmar, and are now lollygagging over the Newhall Pass by hitching a ride with a UPS van while recovering from their hangovers. They are asking everyone they meet on how to get to Magic Mountain. Nothing like vaporizing a landmark, I suppose.
Knock knock
11 AM? Who could that be at the front door?
“Pardon us. We are strangers in town. We seem to have taken a wrong turn - we are trying to get to Magic Mountain.”
You should have stayed on the 5 instead of taking the 14. Kinda confusing when they join for the Newhall Pass.
“Thank you ever so much! If you see black smoke over that way, it’s nothing.”
Last fire burned to with a few feet of the place. Used to it.
“Bwahaha! Fire up the engine, boys!”

Well, wasn’t expecting UPS that early. Nicely reinforced box. Everything in one piece. All of it seems to be here. Love the Nieuport 16s! Scarab and Cuttlefish are awesome, but could look even better hand painted (liquitex acrylic ink and rub n buff to the rescue). Just how much blue really was on the “All Red” final Red Baron triplane? Any at all? Getting out the red paint and trying to mix and match. Speaking of paint: Kissenberth. Yeah, captured ships switched sides all the time in Napoleonic sailing, but one off captured planes don’t do it for me in WoG. Those damned delaying bags actually do look good. I like that they double-sided the posters with full art and journal covers on the reverse. Not sure which sides i’ll frame.
Just looked at the ARES site and they have an Aug release date so I am still waiting but have other thing to keep me busy.
The Veterans Associations of Mars greets the new recruits ready to leave toward Earth to conquer it.
The Martians have landed in Maine. One of the cylinders was badly damaged probably during atmosphere entry but somehow the cuttlefish pilot kept the situation under control. He and other occupants landed unharmed.
So I see a game at Co5Nations ?
The latest message from Roberto at Ares:
People of the Earth!
Just a brief update before flying out to GenCon (where you will find me and other assorted elements of the Ares crew at booth 341, starting on Thursday...):
Universal, our Canadian fulfillment partner, has received the shipment and they are starting to prepare the parcels with your rewards;
FerCam, our carrrier in Europe, received the container with the EU rewards and they're carrying it to the German warehouse, for delivery this week.
Thanks for your support and patience, and see you at Gen Con if you are at the "best four days in gaming"!
Roberto/Ares
The Martians landed in Portland yesterday at work and I brought them home today.
I have to say everything was well-packaged - no damage at all and everything looks really good.
A long time coming, but worth the wait.
Probably be a while before they make it to the table.
Finally they'll reach the European warehouse...

Can't be much longer now Andy, should get the walk through finished then - maybe add some tactics from the anticipated AAR too.

Any firm street date? Curious to see the local buy-in and if there will be anyone to play against locally . . . without an active group here for so long I fear its a reboot from zero . . . . and a cold start without support stock puts us right back to square one . . .
Has anyone from Canada heard anything since the July 24 update?
Oh! Oh! Tracking numbers! I got an email from ARES with tracking numbers!
Desperately attempting to contain my excitement. Estimated delivery is 6 days. These things are doing serious mileage getting to me.

I also just received an email from ARES games. The good news is that my Tripods & Triplanes has finally shipped. The bad news is that it's FedEx.... ugh.
I'm annoyed AF that they didn't use Canada Post... Some folks complain about Canada Post, but for years I've found they've given me exemplary service. I wish I could say the same about FedEx or UPS.
I live in an apartment building. Canada Post can enter my building and deliver to a locker in the lobby, but FexEx can’t.
What will happen is that FedEx will try to deliver to my building while I’m at work, then I'll have to call them and ask to pick it up from one of their depots.
The depot varies between various sites, and so the next day I'll have to drive over to whichever depot to pick it up.

Unfortunately, that's not an option as I work in an office building with about 600 staff, and we've been asked not to receive personal items at the office.
I imagine there are places in Canada where Canada Post is thought poorly of and folks prefer UPS or FedEx, but not for me.
If anyone out there has a business that ships items out, I recommend that you give your customers the option to choose the delivery service.
I strongly avoid sites that don't give me the option to choose which delivery service is used.
Just got my package at 11:35 AM EDT - just 15 minutes after getting the tracking email.
And, yes, Fedex but no broken wine bottles this time.

People of the Earth!
I'm back from GenCon, where I could meet and greet several of you! But while I was away, our warehouses and forwarders were not idle...
Fulfillment to Canadian backers has been completed, and your rewards are all in transit (or you got them already). We've just sent you all tracking numbers. The parcel arrives with FedEx, shipping from Universal Distribution.
The ill-fated European shipment finally arived Friday, August 2nd at LudoPackt in Germany, after weeks lost to clear customs and in transit. Ludopackt is now preparing the shipment of your rewards, and we expect fulfillment to be completed around the end of this week, or early next week at worst.
You can now download the PDF with the Black Cloud template, for your larger T&T battles, from our website at https://www.aresgames.eu/download/24031/
Remember that if you have any issue with the rewards you receive (missing/damaged components, or anything else), you can send us a message via Kickstarter or by e-mail to customercare[at]aresgames.eu Please note we will be short-staffed - due to the holiday season in Italy - from August 9th to August 16th. If your request is not handled immediately during the next week, no worries: we will service any request arriving next week during the following week.
Thanks for your patience and support, and we all look forward to the next update, with "Fulfillment 100% completed!"

I went home for lunch on the off-chance that FedEx might come by. Nothing.
Half an hour after I got back to work, the driver buzzed my door intercom, and the call rang through to my phone.
Apparently I will have to go pick the package up after work at a depot about 4 or 5 miles away. Hopefully I will be unboxing it tonight....

It would be fun to do a first contact world wide event and post gains and losses of each local, kind of like the big world map of encounters in the first movie, could record the progress on a weekly podcast . . . . maybe . . . . until the menace is sent packing off back to . . . China? Where they came from? Need more and better meds . . . the local G&T storage here took a direct hit by a cylinder, pickled the poor Martians immediately . . . say, can we use G&T against them or is It against the Geneva Convention? New kind of spiritual warfare? Time for my daily laydown . . .
A report of first contact games around the world would be fun. I'll be watching for AARs and try to submit one myself.
The silence here is deafening Is there anybody out there? Well, only got an hour of daylight left. Better get started. Ah, is there anybody out there? And bye the way, which ones the Martian?
Hahahahaha
Nope - but then it may have been swallowed up by the junk mail junkie Thanks for the heads up Dave, that's good cheerful news indeedDid you not get the last e-mail (Above post #239) Mike ?
