Thread: Official Pfalz E.I Painting Thread

Default Official Pfalz E.I Painting Thread

Somewhere near the Western Front in the spring of 1916, this pilot reminds himself that even if he's not seeing the glory Fokker eindecker pilots do, at least he's flying a good, solid Bavarian aircraft. Shapeways model by Colinwe, painted with Vallejo products; decals by Mehusla and Dom's Decals.

    Nice reference!

This particular paint scheme cried out for rigging, what with the small rectangular reinforcement patches on the wings..................
    I couldn't resist!

Lovely work, indeed, Tim! There is something about that black outlining on the Pfalz that I've always found eye-catching - very nicely executed.

    All the best,
    Matt

Beautiful Tim - love the rigging and the fuselage decals! Did you print those yourself? Wire spoked wheels next time perhaps?

Yes, the fuselage decals are homebrew - my first success with such, after several disasters using Inkjet. These were done on my work's Laser printer, once everyone else had nipped off home!
The numerals are a bit "fuzzy" from the resizing when viewed close-up with a camera, but look just fine to the naked eye.

The prototype wire-spoked wheels are almost finished...................................

A very worthy winner at the Prague Con this year. Beat Alexis Sayles plane by a mile, and his was good.
