A note on Cold Wars: they are staying in Ocean City MD, so not for me. Too much driving by myself.
OTOH, Historicon in July is probably a go!

For those of you attending or thinking about attending Historicon, news just out from HMGS, Historicon attendees will have to wear a mask.

"HMGS, Inc.'s Board discusses COVID-19 status, and how it affects us, at every Board meeting. We look at what the latest mandates and guidelines are, what the facility is requiring, and what other organizations are doing.

This past Sunday was our latest monthly meeting, and the Board reconfirmed that we will follow the mandates and guidelines propagated by Federal, State, and Local authorities and the facilities that we use.

    The current CDC guideline is:

To maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others, get vaccinated as soon as you can and wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission." (my emphasis)

Montgomery County - where Valley Forge is located - and the rest of Pennsylvania is a "High Transmission" area.

Therefore, the Board approved a mask requirement for all Historicon 2021 attendees while in HMGS-controlled areas; i.e., this does not include the resort's public areas like the hotel lobbies, casino, etc. Anyone not wearing a mask correctly will be asked to put one on. Anyone failing to comply with such a request will be subject to ejection for the remainder of the convention.
We decided that we did not want to, at this time, require a proof of vaccination/negative-test from attendees, to perform temperature checks, or require a personal waiver ... but this may change.

We will require real contact information from every attendee - if you're not willing to provide your email address and phone number you will not be allowed to participate in the convention.

THESE POLICIES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. The situation will be closely monitored over the next seven weeks and the Board will communicate any changes.

We realize that for some of you this is a deal-breaker, and that because of the mask requirement you will not attend. Given the situation, we can not hope to please everyone, and we hope to see you again in better times.

With the demographics of our membership and attendees we will continue to err on the side of caution when it comes to your health and well-being. Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely, on behalf of the HMGS Board of Directors,

    John Hollier
    President, HMGS Inc.

There is collective meltdown on one or two US-based wargaming forums about this, apparently the infringement of some people's "freedoms" and the "diminished" experience is far too much for some to bear

We are a society of the privileged. Covid would be solved if we could just make a mask we could wear and still be able to drink beer.

I just returned from a vacation in Europe (Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary) and I can safely state that they all take this virus situation far more seriously than the US. Whether Prague, Vienna or Budapest. I saw compliance with the local mask rules. I was even asked to present my vaccination card at a number of businesses. Perhaps it was due to the fact I was visiting areas with a dependency on tourism, but I felt as safe as could be, given the circumstances. Some local guides indicated tourism was 15 to 30% of "normal" levels and it was a great time to visit. Got tested before I flew there and before I flew back.

Trying to figure out how to get on with life in our new reality - without taking unnecessary risks. it can be done!

Registration for Historicon is now open.

As far as I know you can only preregister for 1 game a day. I will have plenty of planes and no aerodrome member will be turned away from any game even if they say the game is full.

Well, at least from my POV I think Historicon was a resounding success. I had 7 sold out Wings games! 71 out of 70 seats filled. I was happy to get to meet some online friends for the first time and get to see a lot of gamers that regularly come to my games. We had a lot of fun. Some great and not so great flying and hilarious banter crossed the table over and over. Tonight I will start to post the AARs...

Thanks to all the aerodrome members who showed up to support me and participate in the games. Without you it would be only a fraction of the event it turned out to be.

Thursday night after 3 games of Wings we also played a game of Red Dragon Inn. Mike brough all his set and 5 of us had at it. Robert Durst got in his first game as well as Andy Nunez. Somehow I was the survivor as the Litch, with 2 fingers remaining. It was a hoot as usual with RDR.

Again I want to thank all the aerodrome members and non-members that participated making the games so much fun. I hope everyone that could not attend enjoys the AARs.

Well done with all of these AARs, Peter.
I can't imagine how you find time to get photos and remember what was going on, as well as herd cats at the table!

I can't comment on the Sails site as I am not signed up, but it was interesting to see the ships more close up than we do on Thursday Night Gaming.
