Thread: The Black Devil comes to Epic Loot

Default The Black Devil comes to Epic Loot

We had a fantastic day at Epic Loot. Esa, AKA The Black Devil, was here from Australia. He typically plays a lot of WWII but we decided to infect him with the WWI bug. We had three great games. The first had two Caudron G.6s protected by two Spad XIIIs against four Jasta 5 Albatros D.Vs. This game was a bit of a mess as the boom cards reared their ugly little heads early and often.

The second game had three Nieuport 28s escorting the same two Cauldrons while being attacked by four Fokker D.VIIs. This was a wonderfully game. Lots of great action finishing with one Caudron eaking it's way off the board.

The last game was a true fur ball two Nieuports and a Breguet BR.14 B2. They were up against a Fokker D,VII, Fokker DR.1, an Albatros D.V, and an Albatros D.III. It was a proper mess making it a fun game.

To think this outing all started with Esa posting that he would be in Ohio and wanted to know if anyone in Ohio would be playing wings. I responded and this get together happened. I really believe this is what the Aerodrome was set up for. It is a great way to promote our international band of brothers and sisters. Thanks to Keith for making the fun day we had possible.

A fun time indeed, Jim Great set of pictures chronicling the day's games. It was fun to see Esa get into WW1 - and he even ended up picking up some WW1 planes from our folks who had some to unload...

And, as you say, it would not have been possible without the connections we make here on the Forum Thanks again for putting on the games today!

    All the best,
    Matt

Some great news. Esa (The Black Devil) will be here for our normally planned game on Saturday, January 12th. Anyone who wants to join us is certainly welcome. It should be another great day of gaming and fun.

I would love introduce my collection to players other than AI in the solo games Over the Trenches.

A full workout for all participants by the look of it and as Jim says one of the reasons that the Drome was set up.
I am astounded at just how many of us have met up in person from all over the globe in the past decade, and acquired so many new friends. It has been an will continue to be a great experience.
    Thanks for your posting Jim.

A fun side story from Esa's visit to Epic Loot. When I got their Saturday a young lady that works at the shop told me she had just found out she would would be on a study abroad program for a year. I asked her where and she said Australia. I brought her over and introduced her to Esa and his Mom. As it turns out she will be going to school about 20 minutes from where they live. They exchanged information and now she knows someone when she gets over to Australia. Another case of small world and six degrees of separation.
