Thread: Next missions

  1. #51

    Just a proposal:

Think we need a break after mission 8.

Joaquim is just recovering, Jan is busy, we still wait for Mission 7 AARs, players will be absent for a longer time, etc...

I think it will be the best if we do not brief & start new mission untill 30th June.

So we can wait for missing AARs & statistics like voting and make a little resume then.

The missions get more and more complicated, we have first complications with the roster work and I think we need a little admin help to reorganize our campaign structure (bringing the rules/squadron threads/infirmary/recruitment center permanent on the top of the subforum, etc). Maybe we overexpand a little bit at the moment.

Please give a short statement to this proposal, if it's a good idea, or not.

As I am the man who is about to put mission nine into action. I am happy to wait until the rest of you are ready to start. I have done the ground work on it already, so can put it to bed whenever you say.
As regards the mission, suffice it to say that it will be a two part scenario, and may involve anti aircraft Archie, so get your rule books out.

Agreed, Sven. I have just finished mission 8 and plan to post an AAR soon, but will gladly wait for all other players to catch up. Let's wait then

I am all for your proposal.

I've been feeling bad that I joined the campaign, and then have not had the time to commit to the missions. I absolutely need to get the current mission completed this week, as we will be going on a beach vacation all of next week.

I have also been seriously thinking about making my own mat (inspired by Andrzej's creation). So, I need to set aside some time to spend on that.

Its OK by me The boys could do with some R&R away from the front lines.

Fine by me Sven - a lull in hostilities due to inclement weather will give me a chance to find a replacement for young Deasey.

  7. #57

I am all for it. It may actually give me time to fly mission 7 the last week of June.

We are not in a hurry. Take into account that mission 8 may be particularly long: MG B ground fire plus trench fire (A special damage); and if you find yourself over the airfield, you will have to handle all kinds of fire plus bombing (and collisions).

The proposal is fine by me. I will be MIA for a few weeks due to work, but hope to return to the front by late July. I too, like Todd feel bad at not being able to support the campaign fully.

    I also agree.
I've already played mission 7 but I didn't have the time to upload it.

I will not put mission 9 up until you tell me to do it then.

I chose the Bulldogs as listed below for my 8 mission, that has been flown already. Hope no one would choose them for his mission 7
... [caugh, caugh] some of them will be dice-roll-tested very soon along with some of the Eagles

    Mission 8th, Nightbomber's crews:

    Bombers:
    1. Rumpler: pilot Garsztka, observer: Skowronski, Martin,
    2. Rumpler: pilot Johann von Weissberg, observer: Zencominierski, Lothar,

    Escorts:
    1. Albatros D.V: von Oppeln (player controlled),
    2. Pfalz D.III: von Lisbon (player controlled).

    Opponents:
    1. SE 5a: pilot - William Baker,
    2. SE 5a: pilot - Howard Hank Dillard,
    3. SE 5a: pilot - David Di Evans.

Thought we weren't flying against the opposing Bulldogs/Eagles Andrzej ?

To quote Paul in the crew thread: "Just to say that the opposition pilots for this game are not from the opposing Jasta/ Squadron they are npc characters from another Jasta /Sqd and remember they all have dedicated ground crew 1"

  14. #64

    Default

OK, that was my mistake. But in fact that does not matter. I'll just treat all the opposing scouts I flew against as "unknown" and the names on the stickers I placed on the bases just won't matter. It would be much worse if I had played the other way around - with unknown enemies from the start. So when I post the AAR, you are not suppose to look at the enemies names - they will be there just for fun purposes

Mission 10 is designed and ready for release.

A nice little one, named: The Prototype

    I'll post it 1st August.

Great picture, Sven! This could be done in our campaign as well (all well when you land well!)!

All depends if Kyte gets to fly his brand new Dolphin as a prototype.

Well, Joaquim may I say this time it's your turn to design another mission for the group?
Do you think you can find time to do do it?
If you do, it would be set out not earlier than September, what do you think chaps?

  23. #73

    Default

A mission at the begining of September is good for me Lads
    Paul

I'll be more than honoured to do it, Andrzej.
And with such good missions that you all wrote, I must make something really special.
I'm now playing mission 9, to get myself again in the same rhythm as you all gentlemen.

Very soon now, I'll be over the trenches...

I'll change the deadline for the Prototype to end of August instead the 19th.

Good move all round. No point in burning us all out and spoiling the enjoyment. Beside the fact that I will be on leave for a week in East Sussex at the end of August.

Glynde Place for a Muster Dave, and a day out at Brighton Pav. plus another at Arundel.

Ah, Arundel - my ancestral home !! (line back through Aline de Warenne who married into the Fitzalan family), Glynde is lovely too - just a few miles away from me - hope the weather holds for you !

Although we still have mission 11th to complete, but the next one is on me, if I remember the queue correctly.
I must tell you I'm prepared for the task. Besides 5 books in my holiday suitcase I took a copy book and lots of pencils with me as well, knowing I'd have time to plan a mission for you. It was a happy time, I swear, chaps. Resting in the sun near a pool, with a drink in my hand, designing the mission; this may be called a perfect well spent leisure time
So the mission is planned. It may be a surprisingly short: no more than 4 kites, and - hope exciting. But it may be a very different mission for everyone. The drawback is there are some special rules, but hope you can live with them.
The first title that comes to my mind is... "Let's score a kill, son".

Good to hear that you're working on the next mission Andrzej.

I hope we get something with bombers in the next following missions.

My Gothas and Capronis didn't saw much action in this campaign.

    Don't worry Sven.
I've got one up my sleeves with more bombing action than you will want. Better buy more.

    1. I must finish and report Quim's mission first (the end of the week).
    2. My mission is written down and ready. Just to be posted.
    3. I can turn it to be a mission with a bomber (it's primarly designed for a "against 2 seaters), but do you think everybody own at least one bomber?

    Let's discuss it.

I could borrow FotG from a friend if needed. Building a Giant isn't currently in the work bench queue, though. (I've got more than enough work to do on some more basic aircraft... SE5a, Pfalz, triplanes, etc.)

  38. #88

My wish shouldn't have influence on an already designed mission.

    But If possible...

  39. #89

I have a bomber but would rather use 2 seaters personally.

  40. #90

I promise to take your opinions into account, chaps. But for simplicity reasons (in fact my plan was to provide you with a fast and straightforward, typical over the front encounter with some tweaked rules) - two 2-seaters should be enough...

No bombers but have some 2 seaters to go against the Eagles
    Paul

So these will be 2 seaters. And a relaxing mission.
Just a hint: You will have to choose an ace or veteran pilot and a complete freshman to form a flight of yours, chaps.

Sven pointed it right in the other place.
Let's keep the campaign going until everyone designs 2 missions. The 12th is the second of mine, so keep going forward. Does it make 18 in total?

    Thoughts?

As I did number nine, would that make my next one number eighteen, or are we going to omit those who have already done two missions? In which case which one will I be doing?

    Rob.

    Rob,
that was the queue mentioned in the beginning of the thread and I think it makes 16-17 missions.

    Andrzej 12
    Dave 13
    Jan --
    Paul 14
    Rob 15
    Sven 16
    Joaquim 17

If we just leave 2 missions apiece, Sven's 16th would be the last one. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

    (Sorry, I forgot about Jan...)

That's ok for me too, to end this campaign Jan/Feb 1917.

So we have an early war and late war campaign left over.

    My opinion.

Let's wait for feedback from the other players...

I have played my own 12th mission through the weekend and - frankly I'm frustrated AAR will follow soon. So when I see your smiling emoticon Dave, I can be sure you are going to provide us with some real fun!
