Anything ever happen with this? I would love to get a copy of that map or buy the electronic files, if necessary.

What he said. I’d love to see it in that fuzzy felt like material.

These Verdun game mats are finished for 6 years and a half (since December 2012).
Andrea Angiolino has recently written that they are supposed to be part of the WW1 Campaign and Scenarios box set.
They are divided in 3 parts, each has the same size as a WOG mat (68 x 98 cm).
    Total size : 204 x 98 cm

I thought they had just faded into history!
It would be great to be able to get a variation on the current game mats.

A great project. They seem to be much better than those of Ares (I am not a fan of the latter).
These are brighter, the images look like taken from a lower altitude and cards would not mingle with the artwork.

Great news that these wonderful mats will be produced by ARES as part of a campaign set. I was excited when a campaign was mentioned during the T&T kickstarter. It looks much better not with these mats.

Pure coincidence: my buddy and me are playing a series of Verdun scenarios in R,Borg The Great War (C&C system) these days. Tomorrow is another session of 1 or 2 battles.

There has been talk about campaign rules for several years now, so hopefully this is a sign of them getting closer to being released. But if the maps are part of a boxed set, that mean they are just going to be printed on paper... which is a real shame

Something like this could really reboot the game, which it needs so much!

The following picture shows just a fifth of the final mat : the full size will be 82 x 39 inches (210 x 100 cm).
    This side of the mat has a size of 16 x 39 inches (42 x 100 cm).

This part depicts 3 villages (Charny, Bras sur meuse et Douaumont) and railways, station, bridge, churches, mill, hill, fortress, canal with lock-gate …
    Many targets for bombers.

The next part will show the battle front with trenches, factory, castle …

The landscape has the same scale than those printed on the maneuver card.

He intends to present this mat to Ares Games to release it or to any partner who would be interested for its production (Aerodrome Accessories ?).

If you have any comment and suggestion, I'm sure he would be glad to hear about it.

PM sent to Cyril [Sir Erickson] on Le Cirque Volant Forum for some images of his map to use for card backgrounds.

    Absolutely awesome work.

An example Cyril posted on the French site on how he makes his maps:

I second that opinion fully. Paper mats s.ck, so to say.

Paper wouldn't be bad if they made their mat on matte.
Better yet on thicker cardboard, like many games do.

If they then produced on actual 'mouse pad', separate from the campaign, all the better.
Still waiting for the London maps in 'mousepad' ....

The problem is our game is not playable on a paper mat unless it is covered by a plexiglass or a glass.
    Double effort...
But there is a cheaper than the mousepad solution: a cloth mat. I just got Richard Borg's C&c game Red Alert with a large cloth mat, which is very nice.

This is exciting. Looks like this will be an excellent event. I wish I lived close enough to attend and pick up a copy of the mat and scenarios.
