Book Title: The Luftwaffe
Author: C.G. Grey
ISBN: Printed in 1944 = what's an ISBN?
Category: History
Format: Hardback
Summary: While something of an historical curiosity today, and a work somewhat coloured by its being written during WWII, Grey, who founded 'The Aeroplane' magazine and was editor of Jane's All the World's Aircraft from 1916 to 1940, was well-qualified to attempt a history of German military aviation. The 251pp book is divided into five Parts, dealing with The Start of German Aviation, The German Air Force in the War 1914-18, Germany between the Wars, The Coming of the Luftwaffe and the Luftwaffe at War, and is a mix of technical detail on various aircraft types, chronological history and an examination of doctrine and tactics. While superceded by more complete books since, it remains a fascinating read, which covers WWI quite well, majors on the inter-War years and then wraps up with WWII up to the end of 1942.
