Thread: Seaplanes :)

    Default Seaplanes :)

My last set of Shapeways models included some seaplanes. I've already posted pics of the Sopwith Baby, but at the time I'd not snapped the others, so here they are:

First up, a Hansa Brandenburg W.12. Following on from my hand painted lozenge for my "regular" late war German fighters and 2 seaters I thought I'd try something similar for this.

I'm not sure the effect is quite as good as the other models - this naval lozenge is a real pain in the a**e

The other two are a Macchi M5 and a Hansa Brandenburg CC. Having decided to avoid the Italian front i've gone and blown this plan with these and a couple of Lohner 2 seaters, but I think If I restrict myself to the naval front then perhaps its not so bad

I might end up getting another couple of these seaplane fighters, they certainly are an interesting diversion from usual scouts.

    I like them!
Especially the flying boats - As you say, they add a bit of diversity.
The hand painted lozenge is really impressive!

    Nice work.
But be careful those sea planes can become addictive. You start with one and then wow that one looks cool and different need I say more.............

I agree Dave. It is a slippery slope that you are on. I keep finding all sorts of info on seaplanes that i'd never heard of before.
That work is of excellent standard as usual and is going to make a superb display on the games table when in action.

If you get any more I have some naval lozenge decals going spare if you needed them. Good work on a lovely plane.

Very impressive, that man. All the models are perfect, but the hand painted lozenge is absolutely stunning. Bravo!

Fantastic job! Now I just have to get some seaplanes myself even though I can't come close to your work.

They look great, that hand painted lozenge is fantastic. I love the Macchi. Every collection should have a boat with wings bolted on!
