It's not the ribbon - it's what it represents. That someone would go so far out of their way to help others deserves recognition, if only amongst we happy few, we band of brothers (and sisters).

    Thanks for this, Jan.

I have sent in an order to Skytrex for two of the Nieuports today Dave and will send one one for you if you drop me a PM with your Snail-mail on it.

As Skytrex models go the Nieuports are not too bad, not their best but look reasonably convincing when placed beside a Nexus model.
Your kind of restricted to modeling one with a gun mounted on the cowling though unless you want to do a lot of cutting and fileing.
Also, if you order the Italian decal version of the`17` for some reason they give you an instruction sheet for the Nieuport 11.
Not that this is much of a problem unless you really wanted the performance data as a reference|

OK, There are many opinions being given on what mini company to use but I hear nothing about what color scheme to use. Looking in my Osprey Nieuport Aces of WWI book, I see most of these planes are silver with a few camo. Will anyone talk about possible paint jobs or is it top secret stuff until after the contest ends? I have plenty of silver paint but am dreading doing a personal insignia on the side of one of these little buggers.

You are right in two points:
    1. silver schemes are very common and not very attractive, IMHO.
    2. placing those little logos on the minis would be painful. I have no idea how to place/paint them at all.
    3. There is a little secret who chooses what scheme and the fun lies there I can say - I won't probably choose a French scheme, but all other options are possible.

I take it we are talking about a 17/23 used by the allies during the war years? Some of those lovely Russian etc. schemes Zoe called attention to are mainly post 1918.

That doesn't matter; the contest allows any paint scheme, including fantasy.

There are some decals for an Italian Nieuport scheme in my albums.
I hope it will be good, use clear decal paper for it.

    Nice!
Looks like a few; Baracca, Ruffo de Calabria, and Barracchini are the ones I quickly recognized. People need their own roundels though, [s]and you should specify dimensions in either DPI or total width, for any one who's trying to print them[/s].

    Edit: Duh, you did specify...

I've had a look at your albums Michal and it's clear that if the rest of us are to have any chance in this competition, we'll really have to up our game - The quality of your builds and paint jobs is just astounding!
And then the rigging on those planes...Incredible!

All right, one Nieuport 23 (Kibanov) is on its way to Australia and one to UK. There should still be 4 more available in our local shop if anyone needs a Nieuport to repaint.

A small guide for those who do not know how to do it :
Insert this picture to Word, for example, reduce so that the line was 28 mm long ( 25 IS TOO SMALL) and print on inkjet printer to clear decal paper....

This is where I get mine Andrzej.

    CRAFTYCOMPUTERPAPER.CO.UK or http://www.decalpaper.com/category-s/3.htm

Make sure you get the correct paper for your type of printer.

I bought those here, good price I think. White and clear, and mat, it´s better for inkjet printer.

Going the Shapeways FUD route for this - probably cheaper to get Jan to pick a WoW one up for me and personally deliver it........

Steve, save a few bucks and get the FD (not FUD). From my tests so far, you can't really tell once the primer goes on.

A brand new Nexus Nieuport 23 would be about 19-20 GBP including shipping to UK, I am going to buy one for rote Flügel in a few days, so I can as well buy and send two.

After a short period of resignation I found a source for a Nieuport 17 - Lufbery und Thenault for 8,39 €.

I hope this online dealer can hold his promise.
