Albatros D.III prototype

The plan was to build me a couple of albatrosses to paint for the D.III competition and at the same time put together a little how to.

Only I was dissatisfied with the first couple attempts, so I've found myself running out of time. I think I have an approach that works now, but I'll never be able to build any planes and paint them before the deadline.

To get at least one plane to paint, I finished up the prototype as best I could (that last 20% is a b***h).

Hopefully I'll have the time to paint it before the 12:th.

The pile in the background are the leftovers from the earlier, failed attempts.

If I'm not utterly fed up with the project when/if I finished this paint job, I'm still hoping to put a small how to on my "method" (I'm using the term very loosely - it's mostly just trial and error).

That's just fantastic! You say 'prototype', does this mean you will make many more from the original?

The prototype is for the how to I'm planning. Since I'm not that organized, I usually start my builds with a general idea and then adapt along the way. If I'm to produce a how to, I first had to build the one plane to work out how it should be done myself - To know what 'flies', so to speak.

Perhaps Proof of Concept would be a better term?
