Summary: A 221pp biography of one of Australia's greatest, and least-known military aviators, Roderick Stanley Dallas DSO DSC CdeG avec Palme, high-scoring ace and inspirational leader. Drawing extensively on Stan's original correspondence with family and friends, the book follows him from rejection by the Australian and British armies for flying training, through his RNAS career in England and France, where he rose to the rank of Major in the RAF in command of 40 Sqn. An easily digestible account of his life and exploits, with lots of personal insight into events around him. Contains numerous photographs of Dallas and his aircraft, with appendices including his own published 1918 'notes on air fighting', medals, awards & citations, victory list, aircraft flown and finishes off with a series of sketches while in France.
