Well I've been in reenactment for twenty years now , my period that I recreate is the medieval period from 1066 - 1403 , I'm now joining the War of the Roses period with my group and I'm going to be investing in more plate armour next year , more metal to try to keep rust free lol.

I can't believe I was the only person so far to include the Edwardian period as a favorite era!

Just voted in the poll, and voted Napoleonic, but would have voted ACW if it was there.

The Middle Ages. There is much literature/mythology from that period or drawing upon that period that tell stories of virtue, sacrifice, and loyalty in the face of evil. For a modern appropriation, one needs only to look at Tolkien.

Thanks Eric. If I had the time I would. These pictures were taken at the annual Fort Lytton Living History Weekend - 'Army Group South' is the local WW2 re-enactors group concentrating on the Eastern Front. The young man in the photos is my boy Alexander, who also plays the odd Wings of Glory game.

This must have been fun for Alexander. Great that he joins you in playing now-and-then.

What I didn't see listed were 1) American War for Independence 2 ) American Civil War 3) French and Indian War (as distinct from the Seven Year's War). All periods I enjoy wargaming.

Good periods all, along with the war of 1812...

Been doing the Medieval thing for 30 plus years so have to stick with the Viking era. My SCA Persona is a 11th century Saxon and have been making Chain Maile armor for almost 40 years. Napoleonics/WWII Afrika/Zulu wars tie for second.

    Elizabethan period brought us:

    Shakespeare
    Toilets
    Civilian Police Force

You and the family can finally go to a well written play without stepping in shizzle* and being roughed up by military police. A bonus to this Renaissance of attention to public health and safety was the diminishing of plagues.
Last edited by Tokhuah; 01-09-2019 at 14:00. Reason: Shizzle replaces ****, which is not a swear word by Elizabethan standards because it is not heresy.
