Default Call for Origins 2012 GMs

To any and all interested members worldwide:

In the next week, Keith, Tom, and I will be putting together a list of 20+ events to be run at this years Origins Games Fair 2012. I am calling for any members who wish to run an event (one of ours or a specific one of your own, pending approval) to please sound off in this post ASAP and let us know of your intent. I need to know what days you will be available at the convention (May 30 - June 3). I also need to hear from anyone interested in assisting with GMing of events. In order to get you the half price Game Club discount this year, we have to put you to work in one form or another as a GM, Assistant GM, or volunteering to help out the convention staff for a couple of hours perhaps.

Please post here if you intend to participate. If you have questions of any kind feel free to call me at 614-359-5512.

I will also be sending out PMs regarding this thread to specific members who have voiced interest to me recently.

I foresee this year's con as being a fantastic time and will be adding more specific details about planned events to this thread (and this post) as they become available.

Our deadline for event submission to the Convention is February 1st, so lets get Busy!

Count me in Ken...I'm willing to run and/or help run games as needed. I'm already working in the vendor area & will have an Exhibitor badge. I can run games after the vendor area closes and possibly during vendor times as well. My new mat is available also!

....of course this means we need to do alot of play-testing!

I asked for the Friday and Saturday off (automatically get Sunday ); I thought I could try running the bomber scenario I ran at Floorwars.
I'll take the precaution of getting Monday off too, so I don't have to bolt home so early Sunday.

Sadly I cannot attend this year. I was informed that my daughter is graduating high school that weekend. If only I could convince her school to move graduation from Toledo to the Columbus convention center.........

Well, you could always encourage her party too much these last few months... if she does not graduate this year, you are in the clear!

The following are events that we ran last year at Origins that I would like to see us run again (possibly multiple times) this year:

    • Wings of Glory WWI – Bombs Away - WWI Bombing and Defense Mission. Entente vs. Central Powers. Can you take out the target before the enemy takes you out? Prize Awarded! 2- 14 players.
    • Wings of Glory WWII – Bombs Away - WWII Bombing and Defense Mission. Axis vs Allies. Can you take out the target before the enemy takes you out? Prize Awarded! 2- 14 players.
    • Wings of Glory WWI – Gotha’s over London - Wings of Glory WWI Bomber Mission, Entente vs. Central Powers. A large formation of Gotha bombers have just made a successful run on London, can you make them pay the price on the return trip? Prizes Awarded! 2-14 Players.
    • Wings of Glory WWI - Spy Rescue! - Wings of Glory WWI Rescue Mission. Entente vs. Central Powers. One of your spies is behind enemy lines with vital information; Can you bring him back alive? Prizes Awarded! 2-14 Players.
    • Wings of Glory WWI - Burn, Drachen, Burn!! - Wings of War WWI Balloon Busting / Defense Mission. Entente vs. Central Powers. Can you take out the Balloons) before the enemy takes you out?? Victory Point System will determine an all out Best Pilot. Prize Awarded! 2-14 Players.
    • Wings of Glory WWI - Zeppelin Attack - Wings of War WWI Dogfight/ Zeppelin Mission. Entente vs. Central Powers. A mighty Zeppelin is headed to the UK. Will you see it to its target, or will you see it to flames? Prizes Awarded! 2-14 players
In addition to those, we are considering strongly:

An Aerodrome member only large scale tournament.
    LKGR's Aerodrome Assault mission.
A second different Gotha bombing run of my design for 4-14 players
    Jager's mass Bombing Run

I am still waiting to hear from Ralph to see if he is willing to run WWII missions as well this year. If so, Tom and Ralph will be concentrating mostly on the WWII rules set while Keith, Jager and I do WWI.

20 events this year!?!? Impressive! I hadn't been planning on going, but when would you need confirmation if I were to offer to "assistant GM"?

Over 20 events... and you can sign up as an assistant GM, and club member, up to the day registration closes in May. Think about it, work something out... and come join us!

    Ken;
    Put my bomber game as:
Wings of Glory WWI: STOP THOSE BOMBERS! WWI Bombing and Defense Mission. Entente vs. Central Powers. 2-12 players. Can the German defenders stop the Allied bomber formation from dropping on a vital railroad station? Can the allied escort get the bombers to their target and back?

    Hi Ken,
Here's a list of my scenarios. Battle of Britain The Airfields, Defend the Radar, Wake Island, and if I have U.S. bombers Guadalcanal. I will be play testing these in the next few months to get all the kinks out. I also have some Buffalo planes on the way...

I was also thinking of specialty mugs as prizes to give out at Origins. What do you guys think of that? We could make them to fit each scenario and tournament.

Just bought my ticket, so I guess I'm coming. I plan to bring my customs, so if anyone would like to use them for their events, let me know. In particular, I've got squadrons of:
    6 Jasta 37 Albatros D.Vas
    7 Jasta 19 Fokker Dr1s
    4 Lafayette Escadrille Nieuport 17s
    2 Cicogne Nieuport 17s (B firing)
    4 4th AFC Snipes

And I'd also be happy to help out if anyone would like a hand with any of their events.

Todd I am sure we can find use for a few of your aircraft if you like... and your help will be appreciated! Look forward to seeing you in a few weeks!
