Thread: Comparing Mythologies

    Default Comparing Mythologies

My wife - love of my soul - offered me - queen of my heart - the Wings of War Revised Deluxe Edition.
I am now the happy owner of my first 4 plastic Nexus 1/144 plastic planes. The first thing I've done was compare them to the paper planes I've done. Some doubts did rise to my mind. Here it goes:

    The Albatros D.V:

Main differences are the tail section, the wheels and the engine size.

    The Sopwith Camel:

Very similar. The only differences are those created by my bad craftsmanship.

    Fokker Dr.1

The fokkers are very similar. Red makes it easy... The main difference is the tail, the tail wings and the landing gear.

    The Spad XIII:

This is the most disappointing one. The Nexus model is very small and doesn't have "life" in it. It's smaller, the wheels are very small and the fuselage is very boxy.

But what I felt most about this is that the paper models mix very well with the plastic models. They will fly well together.

The plastic and paper models do mix well.

Don't drop the Nexus models and do not get the paper models wet.

I agree with you about the SPAD. The Nexus model doesn't feel like the real thing. Nice comparisons though!

The Nexus Spad is a tad on the small size !
Some have commented that the Nexus Albatros has the `cabane struts`(upper wing to fuselage) on backwards !
I notice small details here and there are a bit inaccurate, but hey they are gaming pieces, and do an excellent job
in the best WW1 airbourne game i`ve ever seen !

Not just the cabanes; the auxiliary mainplane strut on the D.Va should anchor to the leading edge of the lower wing rather than face rearward!

The only model that really looses something of the mythic aura it always had is the Spad XIII. Even the A deck lacks something, I think.
