Default 4th Build - The Baron's Triplane from Zioprudenzio

This is the 4th plane I build for Wings of War WW1. The Red Baron's Dr.1.
I've got now the first four planes from the game. Tomorrow night I'll play wit it against a Spad XIII and I'll see how it goes.

For some reason, I haven't painted the wheels black yet in all my planes, but I'll do it soon enough.

I'm using the Albatros DV as a comparing measure.

    Now I just need pilots...

    great job!
I admire your manual skills with paper models.

Thank you all for your kindness.

    Very interesting article, Ken, thanks.

I've started the Gotha bomber... It needs a lot of extra work but I think that it will be nice in the end.

    Joaquim,

You did a great job on the cowling.
I am currently trying to build this plane and am having trouble getting parts s1, s2 and s3 to line up proper.
Did you have some way of holding them together when you glued them ?

    Hi Ken!
Indeed I made a very little cylinder that I've glued inside both parts.
As soon as I do it again I'll take photos.

    Joaquim,

    I think that I understand.
I will make a little cylinder from paper and glue inside both parts.
    It should work.

    Joaquim,

I made the little cylinder and it worked.

Not as nice as yours but good enough.

It will be somewhat concealed by the clear plastic prop disk when finished.

    Joaquim,
This plane is awesome. Now that I've done one, I realize just how good (2nd Project).

Some pointers I'd appreciate knowing for my next one is how the cylinder works for the cowling. Also, how you did the wing struts so cleanly.

This will help with all my next models, I hope.

    Joaquim,

This is a fantastic looking Dr1 you created there!

Mike, I use 120g paper, so it will bend in a easier way in such small minis. I cut the wing struts in half, I don't insert them in the wings.
I also glue first the cowling before gluing the engine.
    Was it of help?
In the Eindecker building thread I think that I show that. I'll find it and post the link here after I return from work.

    Joaquim,
Found the thread. Good build, and a reference for when I try an Eindecker.

So, did you edge glue the struts on the DR1? And the Eindecker picts don't show the way the cowling went together. Or I missed it in the picts?

I will check the paper weight for lb vs gms.

Do you have an update on the Eindecker, showing the wing wires?

Yes, I did. It was cleaner.
No, in fact they don't. It's a simple matter in fact. Using fast dry white glue you glue them from the centre to the extremities (I hope I'm making sense in English). Them you cover all the surface with the white glue. It gives it a finished look.

I'm afraid that I haven't yet done that. I haven't found a good thin brush to cut the wires from.
