Absolutely Awesome.
Let me know if you decide to start selling these
Earlier in the thread you mentioned about getting a U boat Langton miniatures has a costal U boat in 1/200 scale, nice simple model and easy to put together. Oendraken also make a generic U boat which I use as an ocean going vessel, again simple ti make and paint,
Please could you tell me what the scale is of the Pendraken one Alastair.

The Pendraken U boat is 10mm (approx) but is still useable as a larger Ocean going U Boat. In my "Scenics File" there is a picture of one with a WW1 WoG plane for comparisome if that is of any help to you (note the AA gun is from Sytrex)
Thanks Alastair. That's quite a big baby you have there. May be a bit large for what I had in mind, but if all else fails at least you have given me something to fall back on.

Clipper - just seen this and i am totally amazed! If only a few of these could float their way over the Atlantic to Europe, they would look amazing in a game.
Kudos given and well deserved.
Totally impressed with the foam cutting jig... genius stuff! I unfortunately can only give you kudos and not rep as I too have recently pinged your rep score button! Bravo!

Thanks to all for your comments and enthusiasm. I am currently tooling up for for the stretched "Super Zeppelin" and the "Altitude Climbers"-longer and wider. This obsession keeps getting fueled, that picture of the L-35 with the Albatross hanging off it looks like just too much fun! Thanks also for all the action on the for sale thread, there are nearly a dozen Zepps out there floating toward the Island . . . and those subs you guys are building, watch out for my torpedoes from the sky!!!!

So there I was with a 1/144" scale drawing of a German torpedo, a few spare hours and a bit of styrene and wood. . . and this picture, what's a zeppelin addict to do?
A pair of torpedo gliders, just what you ordered for Christmas!
Sub Cloud Car? The crew stood in line to volunteer because you could smoke on duty in this thing, hanging 500 feet below the mother ship! Talk about a crazy smoking lounge!
An escort Albatros makes an inspection pass
For my next trick, a Zeppelin mounted Albatros fighter, hey its in the picture too!
Very nice extra details David. I can't wait to see what your next project will be. Now who is going to formulate some rules for the torp?
Rob.

Nice work; love the cloud car too! Rules for the torp: That's tough. How fast do gliders go?

I'd comment... but I'm awestruck! Fantastic!
I'm thinking just using the bombing card rules, they need to be lined up and dropped a few moves before the target, maybe a turn or two earlier? As for the sub cloud car, I am thinking of trying to make some clouds on stands to fly above and bomb through, could be fun and cool looking. . . .

Wow... David, the stuff you do... totally fantastic! Talk about inspiration! My hat's off to you, Sir...

So I have just re-engineered the Zeppelins and have included the Height Climbers and Super Zeppelins in the tooling. These later Zeps cruise in the 18,000+ altitudes and I plan on making use of the heights and taking them to a total new level. Any ideas out there on strategy?
Clipper at war!
As someone with a big interest in airships/zeppelins, I am just staggered by this (and your modelling skill across the board). Should you ever produce these for sale, I'd love to get in the queue!
Speechless
Thanks! I am just putting the final bits on the 4th generation-stay tuned! Watch the For Sale thread as well. New exciting toys indeed . . .
Clipper@19,000 feet and climbing over your home land defenses!
Just realized that I'd missed passing some rep your way for this one. An oversight if there ever was one. Remedied now.
Simply amazing stuff!

David I have to say you are a sick person (a good sick) for all the trouble you go through making those excellent air ships.
Cool! Did they just jettison the envelope or was it a self contained craft? Kind of an expensive plan if not. Interesting . . . do have a few SSZ envelopes and a BE2c lying around, hmmmm
Clipper inflating
Here is the beast Clipper, it was not a success both crew where killed.
Don't know what was happen to the balloon afterwards, must have just floated away.
Sorry about the crude photo couldn't work out how to crop it.

I think they were just going to jettison the envelope. Expensive yes, but they were really worried about those Zepps...

Given the text I've made out: I think this would be a very short scenario, and one which ends badly for the British (as usual).
I think I will pass on this one . . . back to the new Zeppelin program.
Oooo! Nice in black, almost ready for a night on the town, just which town?
Clipper getting ready to go to town . . .
Can't wait to see the new super zeps, David.
Clipper! When will you be building these again? I am in Tucson just to the south of you IIRC. It would be worth the trip North to pick one up directly!
I've been drooling and desparately mad to get one of these ever since I saw the one Kilted Wolf got from you.
OOOH OOOH OOOH! Any thoughts of doing "Crimson Skies" versions??
Wow, that was 7 years ago! The elves and I moved on to /144" scale and made dozens more. Still have the forms but my hands let me down . . . Maybe some day though, in a garage not so far away . . .
One never knows the future. My hands have minds of their own, one day they do good service, the next they cannot hold a tool. It is rather exciting to try them out each day. Today was not so good, had difficulty holding the knife to cut the chop. Yesterday I primed another dozen minis, each day is a new adventure. Still pondering the collection amassed here, a few zepps linger on the mantle and in the shop. I will be helping close down dear Hunter's hanger this next month, we will be sending him off on his last mission, his collection of my airships have returned to my keeping to ad to my dilemma . . . what to do with the lot, time will tell. In the duration, tomorrow offers a glimmer of hope, Cheers! Keep climbing . . .
I have similar trouble with my remaining eye just lately Dave. Some days I wake up with unfocussed double vision and can't read the computer screen. Some days it improves as the day goes on, and some days not. Today it is fine and I will get as much done as I can. Just never know what the next day will bring.

David, I am not far from you. I teach art and I would be willing to help you build more of these if you wish to have an assistant. I would also like to find out more about the "Arizona Flight" as I am new to the area. I look forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience. I also PM'd you with my contact info.
That looks a good read
