    Default Hell's Angels + Manowar

Here's something that popped up while linking to the L'Instinct l'ange (Angel's Wings) clip from the WWI Aviation Movies thread (at http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...ll=1#post91256 )

Nor I Karl. I knew he tested one out, but was unaware that he used one at the front. Maybe my memory is just not as good as it was.

    Karl!

From my reading MVR flew two different prototype DVII`s the first not accepted but once modified to the the production DVII. He was killed before they reached operational service in May 1918. The movie Hell`s Angles has some extraordinary shots the one of the bombing run is amazing. Great history it is not, a great movie another big no!

Well that clears that one up thanks Richard. It was not my memory after all.

No, I knew he hadn't, just trying to be funny, or sarcastic (maybe the cleaner fumes are getting to me)
I haven't watched the movie yet, though I have a copy I picked up at Origins this year. Interesting that they needed to insert the most known German flying ace in the war into it. I guess the DVIIs were used because they had them (?)

No Rob, your memory is still AOK even with the nasty head wound inflicted on Mr. Kyte!

MvR only ever TESTED a DV11. He did not survive long enough to fly one in combat.

Thanks for sharing! Very nice to see these old birds move. They have their own special grace - indeed pretty birdlike! The music is not totally fitting in - though I actually like the band - but its a bit too heavy and massive sounding for a ww1 ai rcombat.

About the useing of planes in that movie: There were indeed plenty of D.VII leftover from the war and in private hands afaik. I guess also that the average guy watching the movie back then didn't really mind not seeing Richthofen in an Albatros D.V or a Fokker Triplane.
