How many Shapeway minis do you own?
Only received 4 so far but have another 6 in production and will order more when the backlog has cleared.
Don
How about an option for none! I'd buy them if they weren't so rough. This has got to be resolved before I buy any (as technology improves I think it will be).
I own none but due to there great range I am holding out. I think the technology is a bit mark 1 and hit or miss in the results, from what I have seen on the forum.
Dammit, hit the wrong option. Currently 5, another 6 on order, plans for another half dozen or so next month.
None right now; too much on the project table (and too little in the budget) for more. Plans are for a flight of tripehounds, a flight of pups, a few junkers and maybe a strike package (modern term) of sopwith strutters: some 1 seaters for bombcarriers, a brace of 2-seaters for escort.

I voted for 3, should have been 5.What did you vote for and what did you actually need to vote for? I can correct it.

Only two so far - saving up for another Biff a DH2, Pup, Alb 2, and a gunbus...waiting on the Pfalz and Fokker Eindekkers,
My two are certainly good enough to play with if they don't match the Nexus machines for finish.
I'm very happy with mine and while we wait on Ares I shall be staving off the cravings with Shapeways.
None for me. I have watched the Shapeways threads with interest, but they just don't have any appeal. I will stick with the official products (although I did branch out with the F-toys models) since I know that any do-it-yourself project I attempt will not look as good, and therefore will not look right when set against the others.
I have 2 Dr1 don,t know if I will buy more or not
30+, but none of them aircraft so I haven't voted I do have a couple of DH2s on order to see how they print in WD, I believe that to be the most appropriate material for strength/finish but the proof will be in the pudding. Keep ye posted.

None ,was considering but after seeing pics in other threads on here and recently being shown a couple in the flesh so to speak I will not order any ,especially now the official ones are back on the horizon ,plus i am not the quickest painter so even if they looked better quality I might have held off rather than add to my painting back log.
None and with no place to do any painting I will have to stick with the official ones.
Tom
With the poor quality of the models I've seen , I don't plan on buying any.
I put down 6 that is current.
first three were appaling DR1's with the icing/knotted patterns
since I have got a DVII & 2 Sopwith Tripes and a DR1 which were adequate and have painted up ok.
Have got a further 8 on order, A Caproni bomber, 2 DH2, a pup, a brisfit, Sopwith !/2 strutter in single seat and double seat versions and a Albatross DII
We will se how these turn out, here is hoping

None... not impressed with the quality control as of yet, and I am trying to save money. Not just to move, but also to be able to support the New Wings of Glory product when it does come out, lest the foundation of our hobby perish before our feet. (Plus I do find some peace in taking the time to build the minis myself too)

If the steady flow of people showing pics of aircraft with terrible texture stops, then I would love to get some of the more unobtainable aircraft, just to paint if not play. QC has to be up there to be worth it.
Dave
I chuckle when I see talk of "terrible textures". OK, some of those Dr.1s were truly awful, but the Caproni, Triplane and Pup I have are just fine.
I have eight at present but there are three more on the way????? (DH2's)
I would love to buy Dr I's and DVII's and some of the more "oddball" planes that Shapeways offers, but it seems like you are rolling the dice qualitywise when you order. To be sure, they seem to be doing better as of late, but still is a risk I am not willing to take at the moment.
Shazbot! Not wearing my glasses and hit none when I meant to hit '30+'. I own 44 Shapeways of all types in different stages of completion. Of those, honestly, I have one (DrI - early prod.) that the only problem is the wheels are bent as if a fat pilot had landed it. The rest are great, just a little touch-up sanding to smooth things up, coating with sealer, and a couple of coats of paint. You do more than that building resin/pewter kits!
Hey Ed, come over to where we play on Saturdays and we'll show you some finished Shapeways! I think you might reconsider. Unless, of course, you don't paint or model in which that would be a different story.
Crap!! I thought I hit none but registered as 30+......sorry for skewing the results. I'll confine myself to quarters pending court-martial.:embarass:
That's great!

Hi Terry. Email the store address again with the time you are there and I'll swing by on the 24th mid afternoon, on the way back from a fast draw shoot at Pioneer Village. If you want to shoot let me know and I'll bring an extra .45, holster and ammo.
Hey Ed, we play at 2:00 pm on Saturdays at the IMPERIAL OUTPOST. Located at 4920 W. Thunderbird Road, just north across the street from ASU West and behind the Arby's on the corner. See you then!
Don't know if you can increase the number of planes but I now have 8 Shapeways planes with 2 more due tomorrow.
All the planes I have received so far have been good un's not a bad one amongst them.
Of today i'm a proud owner of a Shapeways Bristol F.2B Fighter and a DH.5
The smell is abhorrend but i hope a layer of base coating will stop this
The collection as is, almost finished the last four and waiting for the DH2.
Only one so far. It's the knitted version of the Fokker Triplane and is destined to become a crashed aircraft I'm afraid.

At this point and time I have zero. There are some aircraft I am wanting to get. When I do buy it will fill holes for differennt type of aircraft that are missing. For example I will buy the Sopwith 1 1/2 strutter and paint them in French liveries. I'll use the BR14's for recon and the Sops for bombers. There are alot of British planes for Bloody April of 1917 I would love to get. My main interest is the Italian front and I was real glad to see Colins release the A-H fighter (I already own 3 from Reviersco) and there might be more A-H fighters on the way!!! When that happens all my resolve will melt and the order will be made.
3 now but I'll be picking up a few more before Xmas!
None. I only have the official prepainted WoW minis since I don't have the time or desire to try to model and paint my own. I am also very impressed with the quality of these models and their appearance. However, I admire all those who have the patience, time and skill to expand their collection by doing their own work
I am looking forward to the upcoming releases for Wings of Glory to expand the number and types of planes available in my collection.
None, and no intention of ever getting any.
As stated before, unacceptable quality control or just too funky production. And as long as the wow/wog line is available, and the revisco and other miniature producing companies are available, no need.
Seems to me that there is way too much pushing of this product line anyways, gotta wonder just how much are they paying for this advertising. And if not, why not.
I now have 10. Will be ordering around 30 more for Christmas. Need decals!!!
None. Not interested in any. I like mine to come prepainted, with bases, and move decks. Perhaps if I get some skirmishes going and feel like I am missing out on some hard to get ones I'll consider them, but the premade complete set ones are what I'll buy. (from FFG/Ares) I prefer to put any "hobby" time into other things like ground elements or airships that give the game more bling.
Well I now have 10 Shapeways models but all are ones not available in the Official models & all except a Bristol Fighter & HP 0/400 are early War Aircraft which are really needed if you want to run a series of Games from the Start of WW1 through to the Conclusion.
I dont understand why revisco and other mini producers are ok in your mind but shapeways are not. Surely they are just another producer, quality issues cant be the reason, some of the rebuilds Ive seen on this site for metal models which were virtually unusable in my opinion (holes in fuselage, huge quantities of flash, struts that needed replacing) showed far worse quality than the worst shapeways models i've seen. If it's about the free press yes I can see your point, definitely.
I think that mini production in the future will go the way of print on demand. it's economically viable, it's flexible, it's "relatively" cheap for the consumer and it fills a need.
None.
I'm a gamer not a model maker. I'll stick with the official product. I've seen a lot of pictures of the models made by people on this site and they look great. We have many gifted people who enjoy making these pieces of art; but I'm not one of them. I guess I'm more of a pilot and not a mechanic!
:embarass:
I have 6 on the way. I love the WoG models, they are pretty good for the scale/price, but I want to make/paint my own, since I love modelling as much as gaming
Dave
Voted 10+, while technically it is 10 plus one on the way. The latest batch of 8 arrived last week minus one of the planes, even though it was on the packing list. Their customer department told me they'd get me a reprint.
I prefer them to the white metal planes I have. Much lighter, so the Gimball mounts will work. No hassle in aligning wings, struts, and landing gear. No flash or holes. Texture is perhaps a little rough to the touch (I have WSF only), but it is hardly visible, and you need sealant anyway, so it is a non-issue after this one extra layer of paint. Of course mine are all ordered this fall, so I'm not familiar with the production problem in summer 2011.
Great to have so many interesting planes available!
I have to change my vote on the poll to 1 and I am happy with it.
As of yesterday, I have three. Two Fokkers D.II and a Friedrichshafen G.III. Good quality (WSF), a bit rough as it has been said many times, but that can be corrected. I am in fact quite impressed with Shapeways and intend to buy more. Many more, time permitting.
Jure
Two as of this afternoon. Caudron G4 and Alb DII. Looks like I'll be ordering more in the future.
Gyula
I've got over 50 shapeways from the two fellows so far. They are a bit grainy but sure are nice to have.. Anyone have advice on the best to order as far as white-strong-flexible?
Got 12 at the moment but will be ordering a few more in the new year.
Honestly, I never heard of Shapeway minis.
It's all the rage. Kids everywhere are doing it!
