But what do you use to make them ?
I mostly use a paint program, like Photoshop, or Paint Shop Pro. I've been using the old version 9 from about 10 years ago... and recently graduated to the latest greatest, x6. It's a little bit of a learning curve with some of the new features.
To get the base image, I use satellite imagery found on the net. Scouring the globe for something that looks like it's from the early 1900's is tough to do.
my latest map will have a coastal area, along with what looks like a battered installation for artillery or AA cannons to fend off the bombers approaching the coast...
Rob I'll also bring down to Derby so you can see, the countryside photo mat I got done. (http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...in-France-1940).
That will be interesting Neil.
What I was actually on about was getting a banner done rather like the Ohio boys have, but I can't think of any layout for one.
Rob.
Why not the design off the T shirt, Polo shirt. Shop in Newcastle Metro Centre will do a 6'x1' banner eye holes etc Ł15. FLORIDA PRINT. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and confirm. If I can get one done and its design is ok, want me to try and get it for Derby?

Absolutely LOVE the map.
Any suggestions for the best places to get it printed in the US? Obviously I would ideally like a giant mousepad style version of this like the official Wings maps, but I can't seem to find anyone that does that sort of thing.
Have y'all been using mostly vinyl? How do you like it?
I've had the original version on vinyl since 2008... it's still holding up quite well. it stays rolled up when not needed and flattens perfectly. There are online places to print to canvas for $35 bucks. Just search for Large banner printer. there was one site I thought I had bookmarked that actually had an optin to print "gamer maps" without grommits and printed to the edge of the banner (no fold-over)
Greetings friends,
I have found this great terrain map, but all links I have found doesn't work.
Has anybody these maps and could upload them again?
Thank you!!
Hello
Does anyone knows if Lugburz's files are available to download in a working host place?
Many thanks in advance
Giorgio
Greetings,
As I couldn't get this playmat, I have developed my own playmat using 500x500 images from original Wings of War playmats and other Wings of War original scanned components.
In order to know whether I can share it, could somebody inform to me about copyrights of WoW game components? There is nothing about Wings of Glory.
I would like to ask for permission to share it.
When I hit the:
http://www.wingsofwar.org/keegan/LAR...mat_NOLOGO.tif
It comes back link broken
I can re-post the mat if you want?
See you on the Dark Side......
Hi,
I don't know whether I can share my playmats yet. Anyway I think, I can show you a low resolution image:
My playmat is 90x120cm.
I hope you like it.
Whether I get permission I will share at an high resolution.
Mat looks great Jose.
I'm sure that either the Oberst or Andrea will know about the legal matters.

has anyone found these mats in any place to download? i missed out and didn't get to them before they went bye bye.
I'll reload the terrain mat and when its up post a link here.
Neil
See you on the Dark Side......
Yes I missed the active link as well, I would very much like to get a copy of each size too
Greetings,
I have received my printed playmat. It's great!!
As far as you can see the final result is good, and it's worth the hour I spend with this!!
I have added photos with manoevre cards in order you can see that the artwork is the same stile.
I hope you like it!
The maps in the first post are all returning 404 (file not found) errors:
They are linked to the same domain as this forum (wingsofwar.org) so it seems like they've been moved and/or deleted, possibly by mistake?
Seem like perfect for printing to me, if anyone can repost and/or if a mod can fix the links that would be great.
Steve
Does anyone have the original high res files downloaded from this thread?
i will be waiting on the edge of my cockpit for this to be available. only mod i would do is no mans land somewhere, so recon/strafing! another question: where did you find the pilot logs seen in photo? wow coin1.jpg Views: 991 Size: 22.6 KB" style="float: CONFIG" />
you mean the original, non edited, non no-mans land map?
Right here where I put it:
http://johnnylingster.blogspot.com/2...-my-wings.html
I was hoping for the original map, with NML in the center, in the 1st post of this thread.
Buuuuuut... I can do some Photoshopping if it comes to that. Would really like to make a big mat with No Man's Land in the center.
Thanks!
If I ever get through the issues I've been having (see the officers club for that), I plan on a no-mans-land map. A nice and BIG one. first up is finishing my coastal map. Once it's done... and I have help now with the water... it's going to be killer.
as big as you want. I have it as a 3x4 map. I've seen it at a comvention in Italy printed out as a gigantic map, bigger than 10 feet long.
Did anyone ever make any progress in getting hold of the original maps in post 1 of this thread (with NML in 3 sizes)? They are fantastic and am hoping to find a local printer who can create some sort of mat for me.
I need a 'serious' game mat and would love to get a copy of the 6x4 without logos? Anyone know where it can now be found? Thanks
Thanks... um... How do you pronnounce it?
Can I just call you George?
Is it really true that no-one has the files for the no-mans land maps of post 1 of this thread? The 4 x 6 and/or the 3 x 8 versions?
Please someone if you have the files, upload them somewhere!
It's really really frustrating seeing here the perfect gaming surface with no possibility of downloading it anywhere.
Thanks for the responses, but I would prefer the 6x4 with 'no mans land', if anyone can advise? I'm not a fan of the official mats, too bright and 'cartoon like' for my taste. I appreciate the responses however
I too am interested in picking up copies of the original files. Does anyone know where they are or who has some copies?
I found a copy of the 4X6 map with the logos and NML on my hard drive backup. It is 540 mb, though. Where do we put that for passing it around?
Or do I mail out CD-ROMs?
PS: horrendously compressed and reduced to fit it on the forum (540mb [72x48 inches] to 1.3mb [24x16 inches]):

Ohh nice find, not sure what on line storage could be used for a file of that size? Someone technical needs to chip in here, having said that I would happily pay for the postage and expenses for a disc to the uk? Thanks for taking the time to find it.

I'm happy either way, if someone can suggest where it could be hosted, given the interest in this file?
All,
I will not post the link to the map, as I have put it on my college server, and don't know how much of a strain will be put on it for downloading this map.
However, if someone wants the map in a reduced resolution, there is a 20 mb version of decent quality available. PM me, and we can see whether I get my hand slapped. It will also be gone in a year-ish, so if you want it - get it now.

Try a file host like imageshack.com perhaps.
The printer I sent the file to (as is) had trouble with it's size in emails.
I found this lurking in my files http://imageshack.com/a/img905/6153/zJ6nIm.jpg
You can see it's a large file, but compressed to 13mb. It's likely to need some photo-shopping or cropping to remove white lines in roads & vans etc to be useful to us.
I couldn't find the original .TIF file anywhere. As it was a beast, I probably deleted it.

Any chance to get the 3 x 4 version of the map anyhow?
There is an easy solution to the problem above that I use quite often sharing big files.
Upload the file to a digital cloud (like googledrive), get a link and email it to the one you want to download the file or post it here.
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
I have some maps on my google drive suited for WGF and WGF, given mostly by other forumers, if anybody is interested I can link you there.
Just gimme some time....today I am too busy...

Thanks for the offer of the files Andy. I'm sure that a lot of people will find them very useful.
