There's not much to tell. Japan's role was overrunning the few Pacific colonial possessions of Germany (Tsingtao, China; Marianas, Carolines, and Marshalls islands chains), aiding to put down an Indian mutiny in '15, and securing territory so more white men could be slaughtered by the inbred degenerates running the European militaries (oops -- did I say that out loud? >
). In fact, 17 Japanese ships (1 CA; 2 sloops; the rest DDs) were stationed in Malta for convoy-escort and SAR work in '17.
In exchange for this, Japan demanded more control over China; in essence, China would become a Japanese protectorate (GEACPS, anyone?). Resistance by the great powers, including the USA (which had enough acrimony with Japan over its treatment of China, and its growing naval presence in the Pacific) meant this went nowhere fast.
It's worth noting Japan did receive at "the adults' table" at Versailles, despite its marginal role; part of Japan's behavior in WW2 was its belief it had been screwed over at Versailles, and in the later naval-reduction treaties.
