I just 'landed' after a successful recon patrol over the allied lines. I took off in my Rumpler with no escort and only my trusty observer (the cat who is fascinated by what we mess with on the kitchen table); somewhere over the Ypres sector a Belgian machine appeared, piloted by my arch enemy Jan..... yes, I bought the camel because it had her name on it!
I was able to evade contact initially, and when the Camel did close to firing range I was able to maneuver to give my gunner a good shot and the enemy machine burst into flames. This was my opportunity to break free and complete my mission photographing the enemy styrofoam, er, I mean trenches!
By the time the Belgian scout had recovered from it's difficulties, I was well on the way home. Nearing German lines, it closed in again, but appeared to have engine trouble and only made one firing pass, where once again my rear gunner gave a good account of himself and I shall personally recommend him for the Iron Cross.
Victory to the central powers!
