I can probably get Lisa to join in. And I'll ask everyone else who has played with us. I'll also bug Slater again, since he has some planes, and some of my old gaming buddies who I keep trying to coax out to play something.

Okay, I dropped an invite on my Facebook page. Hopefully that will drum up some players.
Cool. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Will be a nice kick off to my gaming season. Even got the beard started this week and everything.
Zach
One week reminder!
And it looks like we'll actually have some people this time, so that should be exciting...
If anybody has any specific scenarios they're looking forward to trying out or anything, it's more likely to happen if you mention it here first.
Also, I know I've been saying people don't need to worry about bringing anything, but if anyone prefers to play on the official maps, you may want to bring a set in the event Brian doesn't show up.
Lastly, I've noticed NEXT month's meeting date is actually Halloween. We'll talk about it at the store, but if anyone would like to weigh in on whether that date would cause issues, or possible alternate dates, speak up.
Well.... Here I am having dinner at Rams Head a week early.
Errr
Shoot.
Zach
Will see if there is anyone there tonight to play an may come next week. Was planning on SpaceHulk next week but we will see.
Zach
What do you use for a game mat? I have a HOTZ felt map I use called European Fields. I will bring and and see how all like it if it works.
Well 3 days until I get to meet you all. Looking forward to it.
Okay, I just sent out an invite to all my facebook gamer friends in the area, and I posted a head's up in SJGames' forum too. Hopefully doing this will remind me to show up tomorrow. And hopefully I'll have some friends in tow, too.
I was just over at Savage Mill an hour or so ago. Picked up Weber's D.Va. They didn't have much else, sad to say.
Since you guys have the complete collection of planes, I suppose I'll leave my stuff at home, or maybe just bring a plane or two that I'm in the mood to fly.
Very much looking forward to seeing some new people tonight.
Is its safe to assume you guys have the bomber rules?
Sorry but something elso has come up and I can't make tonight. I will check to see when the next get together is.
John. I brought my stuff. Including bombers and rules.
Back at rams head ogling the waitstaff (holy damn!) and looking toward to playing with toy planes tonight.
Zach
Cool! I'm packing up Lisa's minis and finding cards for them. Then I'm going to make and eat dinner. I should be able to make it by 6. See you soon.
Hey, thanks for the game! Good times. Hopefully I'll be able to make it again sometime in the future.
I posted up a review of last nights game in the AAR forum. Check it out!
I had a great time last night even though I seemed to keep exploding. I look forward to playing again soon!
Zach
Sorry I missed yesterday. Flat tire on the way home 3 hours getting a new one. Was not in a good mood. Hope all had a good time and many battles were fought.
Where do I find the AAR forum?
Click on the "check it out" words of my previous post. It's a link that takes you to my AAR.
Zach
It was good to finally get a decent sized group. I hope you all had as much fun as I did, and thanks for bringing your cool toys!
The last Monday of next month falls on Halloween, so unless I hear demand for it, we're gonna skip next month and our next meeting will be:
Monday, November 28th!
NOT a 1 week notice!
As previously mentioned, we'll be skipping the last Monday of October, since it is Halloween, and you should have other plans.
The good news is that we won't have to wait another month for another Wins night. Effective immediately, we'll be moving Wings of War night to the second Monday of the month. This makes the next meeting:
Monday, November 14th @ 6:00
HAY guys History channel2 has DOGFIGHTS WWI on right now. If you can do ON DEMAND check it out very cool.
And this IS a 1 week notice. Who's coming out next week?
I will try to come. Try and get Ross to come down as well if I can work from home next Monday. Will be more specific later.
Zach
I'll see what I can do. Maybe I can get Mike and/or Jim and/or Paul, and maybe a few others.
Okay, I facebooked 12 of my friends (14 if you include Zach and Ross as mentioned above). Hopefully a couple of them will show up.
I'll try not to completely blank about it after work this time. The last one, I got home and was making dinner and then realized I should have gone to Savage Mill.
Righto. And I emailed and facebooked another half-dozen people. So maybe we'll have six or seven this time.
I'd like to suggest we come up with some scenarios now, so we don't stand around scratching our heads trying to figure out what to do once we are all collected together.
If things are not to busy with work I plan on attending. I'll bring some planes & maybe a scenario or 2
A good plan indeed!
I think it's usually a good idea to start with a straight-up dogfight; people can jump in as they show up, and any new or rusty players can get the system under their feet.
If no one's got a particular scenario they want to try to put together, the reliable fallback is a simple recon or bombing scenario (recon, so the plane has to make it back alive, or bombing with the FoG rules, for a bit of challenge for the bombers). The trick is scaling it right for the number of players. I like using K-deck planes for the bombers, so they don't outrun everyone. Top-of-my-head guesses for relatively balanced scenarios:
3 - lone Rumpler bombing against a pair of allied fighters; SPAD XIII or lesser
4 - 1 Rupler w/ Escort (Albatros or Pfalz) against a pair of top-end fighters
5 - 2 Rumplers recon against 3 allies; maybe 1 a Snipe or Se5a
6 - 2 Ruplers w/ Escort (Albatros or Pfalz) against 3 top-end fighters
For 7, add an allied fighter, and either bump up the escort quality, or ratchet down the allied fighters.
I'm thinking you could manage 5 on 3 at 8, with a Fokker D.VII flying escort, and once you hit 9, start combining smaller scenarios.
If anyone else wants to tweak that, or add more specifics, go ahead.
We could build similar scenarios around a large bomber or two, but since I don't have any I'm not gonna try to piece one together.
I think a balloon barrage can add a lot to a scenario, but I don't intend to bring out my balloons unless there's a real call for it.
If anyone has a real desire to fly in squadron, I've got flights of 4 Snipes (could be 6, if someone brought the pair as sold), 4 Nieuports, 6 Albatros D.Vas, and 7 Fokker Dr.1s (sadly they don't work real well as bomber defense, since they can't catch up with anything). Let me know if anyone would like me to pack them up for the game.
Also, I've got 2 Rumplers, so if we had a huge turnout, I'd be short on those.

I'm always game for an initial dogfight. If you bring a balloon, we could go dogfight, followed by recon mission, and then end with balloon busting.
I believe I have at least one additional person interested in showing up. If he does, he may bring his custom mat.
Well guys I missed last month but will there this Monday.
Regarding scenarios... I'd also like to propose we play at least one game with no Camels, SE5s, SPAD XIIIs, D.VIIs or Snipes, but instead do some earlier or weaker planes.
Recon/bombing scenario sounds good.
For a straight up dogfight it can be interesting to use only 2 seaters
ballon busting can make for a good mission if you are up for bringing your ballons.
I like the idea of early fighters mission
True, true.
Well, I do have one Sopwith Tripe and one Halberstadt D.II. However, Nieuports and clunky two seaters versus Dr.Is and clunker two seaters would work for me.
Also, we could use SPADs and just say they are VIIs instead of XIIIs.
Reminder: Looking forward to seeing people this evening!
However, I won't be bringing any newly-built planes. The handful I've been working on aren't at the 100% complete stage. And I may either be a little late, or have to leave a little early (need to pick up some prescriptions that weren't ready when I went to pick them up after work).
On the plus side, we should have at least Zach, Ross and my friend Dave, and maybe one or two others from my gaming circle.
See you all soon.
Fun times, fun times. Look forward to doing it again on 12/12. Pics and AAR to follow.
Looking forward to your AAR John! As Always!

Thanks! I have the beginnings of one here.
Had a great time last night; 8 was a fantastic turnout! Since John's already writing up a report, I'll leave that to him. Thanks everyone for coming out! Hope to see you next time (as well as those who didn't make it out last night):
Monday, December 12th @ 6:00
