    Default High Flying?

    Drinks are on me chaps.

For one day only the drinks in the Officers' Mess are on me, it being the occasion of my hitting the 40,000 post mark.

    Cheers.

The only way I can get a gong is if I present it to myself. (not going to happen) or our commanding officer does.
Your own remarks are a gong in themselves chaps.

Without you chaps who are the backbone of the Drome, and Keith for setting it up I could not have achieved any of this.

Not sure about the worth of the thoughts and ideas bit Gary, but Mrs K. even though she supports me, would certainly have something to say about my time spent on the Drome.

To be honest with you most of British Fighter Command. And to be fair my lads are not ready. Their planes are not together yet. And we also don't have a base of operations yet. Rumor has it though that we should be sent to an old airfield near Kenley. For crying out loud they still have not sent ground crew to us yet. Orders came from a... Keith Park, I think his name is.

Parkey was it Captain! I will have a word with him and get things expedited for you. it won't do when we need every piolt in the air to combat the Krouts. I just hope Winston does not get wind of this. We are having enough trouble getting our Polish chaps fixed up with buses.
Anything else crops up, just let me know.

Well, sir even then you may only have 1 plane up from the 69th. See we received 5 so far. 1 That would have killed Sqd Ldr. Strider if he got into the air with it. 3 that are faulty, and 1 airworthy plane. The rest have yet to arrive. Mainly the lads are starting to get into a mutinous mood right now due to the issues. They think the Brits are doing this on purpose. But Sqd Ldr. Strider is doing everything he can while I try and get enough planes together to at least have a flight up for patrols. As of now though they have made me the adjutant of the 69th now. Oh and good luck with Churchill. Some of this was in the Daily Mail. Especially the first spitfire. That's all.

I will have a go at Winston then. My farther was with him at Harrow, and played with him in the cricket team. He has also visited us at Kingstone Manor, on a few occasions.

Winston was out at a meeting when I phoned, but Clementine took the call and told me that she would pass on my message when he arrived home.

Wonderful to hear. I have said something about the squadron status somewhere here. It is something for them.

Good good. We are getting another plane now for Flt Off. Liam McCafferty. So we would have 6 planes. But 3 are... well questioned by their pilots.

I am glad to se your report to Squadron Leader Flash, that three aircraft are now ready for action and that more are in the pipeline.
How are you off for spare parts, and have the team arrived to errect your permanent hangers yet?

Spare parts are... small. Construction though on a hangar is coming along and they got some barracks up for us. The Ground Crew right now is very... uncertain. We don't know how many we should have; they just gave us an hq section.

Ok so it's me adjutant for sure. 3 more officers are coming, 1 squadron sergeant major, 2 clerks, 7 batman, 7 cooks, and 25 men per flight, with more on the way. Things are looking up.
