    Default 2023 SUMMER BATTLES

    Five games played between Antsaintex and Monse, during summer 2023.

    INFILTRATION BEHIND GERMAN LINES (August 4)
    Package recovery mission by 1 English fighter Sopwith Camel (pilot "Monse") against 2 Austro-Hungarian fighters Aviatik D.I and Phönix D.I (pilot "Antsaintex") and 2 anti-aircraft machine guns.


    1. Anti-aircraft machine-gun fire on the Camel at low altitude.
    2. The Camel slips between the opposing fighters.



    3. Phönix fires at the Camel, which has landed to retrieve the parcel.
    4. The Camel manages to take off and get away from the fighters.



    5. and 6. Consecutive fire from an AA machine-gun and then from the Aviatik, which shoots at the British fighter.



    7. Third shot from the AA machine gun, but of no consequence.
    8. The Aviatik is eliminated due to a planning error, before the Camel returns to its camp.

    Conclusion :
    Successful recovery mission for the British side.
    - Sopwith Camel (8 damage points)
    - Aviatik D.I eliminated, Phönix D.I intact.

    Great AAR Simon , short but sweet. The time line for playing in Summer 2024 seems a bit furturistic.

    BRÉGUET 14 IN RECON (August 4)
    Overflight mission of friendly troops by 1 French two-seater Bréguet 14 (pilot "Antsaintex") against 2 German fighters Fokker E.V and Pfalz D.IIIa (pilot "Monse").


    1. The Bréguet 14 loses half its structural points following the first shot fired by the German fighters. It looks like being a short game!
    2. Failed counterattack by the two-seater against the Pfalz.



    3. Another missed shot from the two-seater's rear gunner.
    4. Pfalz misses.



    5. and 6. Two more short-range misses by the Pfalz, which is damaged by the two-seater's observer, whose rear machine-gun jams.



    7. The two-seater successfully flies over the first target.
    8. Another failed short-range shot from the Pfalz, which jams.



    9. The two-seater's rear machine gun misses and jams again.
    10. The Pfalz leaves the playing area by mistake.



    11. The two-seater successfully flies over the second target.
    12. Successful mutual shot between the Fokker and the Breguet, which heads for its camp.



    12. and 13. Consecutive shots between the 2 aircraft, and the two-seater finally succumbs.

    Conclusion :
    Successful target identification by the French side, but each side loses one aircraft.
    - Bréguet 14 eliminated (18 points of damage)
    - Fokker E.V 1 4 3 saved, Pfalz D.IIIa eliminated (8 and 3 damage points)

    Simon - it looks like it took a while for each side's shooting to warm and hit something. Nice report.

    Default ROLAND C.II ABOVE THE FRONT

    ROLAND C.II ABOVE THE FRONT (September 12)
    A German two-seater Roland C.II (pilot "Monse") on a mission to locate ground targets is attacked by 2 British fighters RAF SE.5 and Sopwith Snipe (pilot "Antsaintex").


    1. The Roland C.II passes between the 2 British fighters.
    2. Exchange of fire between the two-seater and the SE.5, which jams.



    3. and 4. The rear gunner fires consecutively at the SE.5, which catches fire.



    5. Exchange of fire between two-seater and Snipe from higher altitude.
    6. Destructive short-range fire from the Snipe on the Roland (8 damage points), which fires back at the SE.5 (new Flame damage). Removal of first Flame counter.



    7. The two-seater's rear machine gun jams.
    8. The Roland and SE.5 leave the playing area.

    Conclusion :
    Unsuccessful mission to locate the German two-seater.
    Each side loses one aircraft.
    - Roland C.II eliminated (14 points of damage)
    - Sopwith Snipe saved, RAF SE.5 eliminated (1 and 8 damage points).

    TARGET LOCATION BY A BRÉGUET 14 (October 11)
    German target-locating mission by 1 French two-seater Bréguet 14 escorted by a Sopwith Snipe (pilot "Antsaintex") against 2 German fighters Pfalz D.IIIa and Fokker E.V (pilot "Monse").


    1. First exchange of fire, only the Fokker suffers significant structural damage,
    2. The Breguet catches fire, while its rear gunner hits the Pfalz.



    3. After removing the 1st Flame counter (3 points of damage) and jamming its rear machine-gun, the two-seater is hit by the Fokker, itself targeted by the Snipe from higher altitude.
    4. The Fokker is jammed by a shot fired at the two-seater, whose withdrawal of the 2nd Flame counter has inflicted 1 point of damage.



    5. The jammed Fokker is hit by the Snipe's short-range shot without being able to return fire.
    6. The Snipe inflicts crew damage on the Pfalz, which misses a shot at the two-seater, whose rear machine gun is still jammed.



    7. Consecutive effective fire from the Snipe, which jams, inflicting Engine damage on the Pfalz, whose shot at the two-seater fails again.
    8. The Pfalz finally inflicts significant damage (including Engine) on the two-seater, but suffers Flame damage from the riposte shot.



    9. Heavy damage to the Pfalz from the rear gunner of the Breguet, which is hit by the Fokker.
    10. Elimination of the Pfalz after removal of the 1st Flame counter.
    The Breguet has located the ground target and is on its way back.



    11. The Fokker eliminates the Breguet.
    12. The Fokker is determined to eliminate its last opponent.



    13. Consecutive shots from the Fokker, which jam.
    14. After a few evasive maneuvers, the 2 adversaries exchange a final shot before returning to their camp at nightfall.

    Conclusion :
    Successful target location for the French side, but loss of one aircraft for each side.
    - Sopwith Snipe saved, Bréguet 14 eliminated (8 and 17 points of damage).
    - Fokker E.V saved, Pfalz D.IIIa eliminated (12 and 17 damage points).

    Default ITALIAN IN GERMAN LINES

    ITALIAN IN GERMAN LINES (November 14th)
    Infiltration mission behind German lines by an Italian Hanriot HD.1 (pilot "Monse") against two German fighters Albatros D.Va and Fokker Dr.I (pilot "Antsaintex") and 2 anti-aircraft machine guns.


    1. and 2. The Hanriot performs an overdive and weaves in and out of the German fighters.



    3. and 4. The Italian deceives his pursuers, but is caught as he skirts the edge of the playing area.



    5. and 6. The Italian pilot surprises his opponents and lands near the recovery zone.



    7. and 8. The Fokker chases the Hanriot as it takes off to return to its camp.



    9. Instead of returning in a direct line to his camp, the Italian slows down to aim at an anti-aircraft machine-gun and suffers heavy damage from the Fokker's long-range fire.
    10. The Hanriot is eliminated by an effective consecutive shot from the Fokker.

    Conclusion :
    Mission failure for the Italian aircraft, which failed to be cautious at the end of the game.
    - Hanriot HD.1 eliminated (15 points of damage).
    - Albatros D.Va and Fokker Dr.I saved, one anti-aircraft machine gun eliminated (7 damage points).

    Those were some devastating shots by the Fokker on the Hanriot
