Default 'Origins' Through the Helmut-Cam; Game #17 Sunday 25th June 18:00

OK, technically NOT ‘Origins’ based, but still part of my ‘Origins’ trip, and played on the final day of the Game Fair itself (25th June), so I’m going to count it…

A game hosed by Dan Schul (camelbeagle) at the 'Dragon’s Guildhall' in Beavercreek.
Four British DH4 two-seaters attempt to bomb various Central Powers ships laying at anchor. The ships are defended by three Fokker D.VIII scouts and a solitary Fokker D.VII

We’re under way! (well, the ships aren’t!).

Thomas Coon (Redcoon), Jim O’Neill (Rhodie80) teaching Jackie how to play, Chris Weaver (Malachi) no doubt listening in to pick up some tips himself (!) and wearing his intentions on his shirt…
    Behind, presiding, Dan Schul (camelbeagle)

Peter Landry (Teaticket) was also flying a D.VIII, and out of shot to the right Pete Oakley (Stumptonian) was flying the Schafer Fokker D.VII.

The first pair of DH4s approach a ship – my Fokker D.VIII (#1) slips into the gap between the front and rear weapon arcs of Redcoon’s DH4 (#5); dakka dakka!

Pete (Stumptonian) collides with his wingman (D.VIII #2). Redcoon bombs a target ship, and sets it on fire, but he jams his rear gun as he exchanges with me vectoring in behind him. Jim/Jackie blast me with their rear gun, which promptly jams as well!

A fast left turn by Jackie leaves her overlapping me (so no more shooting at me!) while I hit Thomas again.

Oh, for Pete’s sake! Like the old John Lee Hooker song says, “If it wasn’t for bad luck I wouldn’t have any luck at all!” A second engine hit, and down goes Pete.

Fortunately, this DH4 overlaps the target ship, so can’t try to bomb it.

A fitting end to a fine tour of duty with great reports Tim. Most seeming to be reports with explosion cards involved on other pilots aircraft
It seems very difficult for anyone to take you down a peg or four.

    However! Snoopy will return.

Nice one Tim, a fine bunch of chaps and chapess to game with
That game could be a contender for Flight Club one day.

I had five days of unusual luck!

Very few jams, not my normal allocation of on-board fires, and the only BOOMS I received were all Half-Damage or Peter's "specials".

Rest assured, when I got back to Blighty, my first couple of games both had First Shot Jams!

Great summary of a fun game, Tim
The RNAS was not thrilled with my performance but I was happy to fly the 5 Sqn DH.4 of Barlett & Naylor - they had battles with Seefrosta in Dec/17 and Jan/18 but I've yet to get those painted up

Tim, all of your AARs maks a great journal of your Origins experience. Looks like you had a good time. I know we had a great time having you here. Hope we can do it all again someday in the future.

My damage card draws were (mostly) crap, but the camaraderie was Top Notch.

    Thanks very much!

Looks like you had a good time.
Indeed I did - best vacation ever!

I know we had a great time having you here.
Very kind of you to say so.
But, really? Have you forgotten "Snormageddon" so soon?

    Well done, a good battle.

You did seem to have more than your fair share of bad luck (maybe you had mine as well as your own - that would explain where my bad luck went!).

The camaraderie was, indeed, first rate!
I enjoyed myself immensely, thanks to all of you chaps.

Well done Tim. Great final report to what was undoubtedly an amazing trip, shared with some great, like minded folk. Four solid days of gaming - you must have slept well on the return journey. With reference to your good luck, I would surmise that it possibly had something to do with the lack of other folk trying to collide with your aircraft on a regular bases. Have to see what we can do about that next time we meet

    Five days! Plus extra-curricular activities!

I experienced a decent number of collisions - one BOOM, one 4, three 1s and seven 0s. Clearly, the perpetrators were not up to your high standard!
I'm sure you'll dish out your usual cataclysms in our next encounter!
