Default The Wright Flight in Cincinnati Ohio 9/24/2023

Had a fun day in Cincinnati Ohio at Victory Pints. Nice place! Game tables and lots of local craft beer! Across the street there is a locally owned ice cream shop! YUM!

We had Amergin, The G Dog, Marc, and myself. A lot of family, school, and local events going on. I think even a comic con downtown.

We started out by playing one of the OTT Missions that Flash runs. We did a four player version of "OTTCYM - Mission 10 - Keep On Trucking - Sept 12-18th 1916 By Tikkifriend"

Went very well. Let see the action.

Here is the truck convey with its defenders. A Nieuport 17 and a Sopwith Strutter 1 1/2. Defending four convey trucks and a Machine Gun Truck.

Can the RAF SE5a get home with the info? Well, the Sopwith Snipe is going to try and make sure.

After this, we decided the RAF SE5a was too far away and too far to catch so we called it.

    A great set of games!

Well played, Dan & Co, that convoy game is a tough one for the truckers. That one was authored by Paul (Tikkifriend).
The late war tussle ended badly for the SE pilot

Great AAR n photos. Looks like a good time was had by all. For a moment it looked like the Central powers were going to destroy all five trucks on one straffing run

Just the games to pass away a few hours over a beer or two G&ts.
    Thanks for posting Dan.

A couple of good games there Dan. I especially liked the truck one. It looks very hard to defend those trucks to me. Well done.

It was good to see the truck convoy scenario. It provides a bit of variety to aeroplane only scenarios.
I might have missed it, but were the trucks stationary for the purposes of the scenario? Or did they move?

The trucks moved very slowly with an XB deck.

Using a truck card like an aeroplane card on a stall manoeuvre card will give it a stalling aeroplane speed - so, 40-50mph (? Stall speed for a Sopwith Camel is 48mph; Albatros D.V just under 50mph.)
As far as I can make out the average speed of a truck was 15 mph (24 km/h) in WW1. Tanks maybe half that at best. That'll be road speeds so you can probably halve that again, at least, for cross country speeds.
I often use the width of a ruler each movement phase. ie lay ruler across the front edge of card, move front edge to other side of the ruler.
Once per phase may be OK for trucks on a road but still be too quick if cross country, or, for tanks. Reducing use to once per turn will hopefully provide the crawling speeds required.
