We'll still be working this out going forward, but thank you very much for posting. Knowing the plane's designer's choice is very helpful.
In the Canadian military, we still argue over the bird on the Air Force cap badge. Many people believe it is an albatross, a rumor started by RNAS members way back when. However, the official heraldry has always stated it is an eagle. Even the RNAS badge used an eagle, so even that source is not in accordance with the rumor-spreaders.

I've always used Bf throughout for the 109 and 110.
