Another outing for the Wright Flight in Dayton Ohio. With vacations and Origins coming up, attendance was lower than normal. We had 6 pilots take to the air. We did some Lafayette Escadrille versus German. Early war Nieuport 11 and Nieuport 16 versus an Albatros C.III two seater, and a plethora of German Mono planes. One Halberstadt D.III made an appearance as well.
Rules: We played half damage you have to flee the battle and return to base. Random plane placement to start the game.
Mission: German Observation Mission.
Here are the brave Lafayette flyers returning from a patrol.
The Germans have appeared. Looking to do some observations!
An aerial battle has began.
The observation plane has slipped through.
First plane to leave the board from damage.
The Lafayette Escadrille has realized the two-seater is approaching its objective!
Trying to chase down the two-seater!
The objective complete, the German is heading home!
Can the Lafayette boys catch up to the German!
No! The German observation plane makes it home. With no damage as well!
Everyone else is just flying around and fighting!
One of the mono planes gets shot down!
The battle continues!
An unexpected fly off.
At this point we just continue to fight with scouts.
Our first fire!
And some smoke!
Pilot wounds took this German down!
Looking through my notes, looks like I did not take a picture of one of the N11 retreating from damage.
Germans: Accomplished Mission
Two planes retreat/fly off board
Two planes shot down
Lafayette Escadrille: Did not stop observation plane
One plane retreat off board
I think I would call this a tie game. The Germans obtained their objective, but they had much higher losses.
