Someone recently commented that Bristol Fighters are not seen in AARs very often, so...
It being a while since we played with a Staaken, we rather
ambitiously pitted a Sopwith Camel and a Bristol Fighter against one of the giants, which had to traverse the map to escape...
The Fighter's front gun jammed from its first shot, then both British machines took some damage from the bomber, the Bristol catching fire.
Before long the Camel was in flames too! Gun jams continued to abound.
The Camel was then left behind for the moment after overshooting the big bomber. Meanwhile the Fighter, still suffering from a gun jam, was saved from embarrassment by an overlap (just).
After the Camel caught up again all three aircraft's guns opened fire, for a very low scoring phase! Could have been much worse for the Fighter...
Yet another overlap and yet more zeroes were drawn as the Camel tried to keep up the pressure:
The Camel ended up in full view of the rear gunners, but got lucky and drew plenty of zeroes... The Bristol (off picture) got in a long range shot for no damage.
The final act, the Bristol (just visible top left) accidentally left the map, and the Camel bit the dust after taking a final shot from the Staaken. The giant had over half its health remaining, so a clear victory for the Germans!
