Thread: Base Size Questions

    Default Base Size Questions

I have a few questions about WOGS base sizes.

I know there are three base sizes: F = 67 X 43 mm, HF = 67 X 87 mm and B = 80 X 110 mm. I recall that the sizes represent specific wingspans, but don't recall what these are. Please remind me, so I can take proper note this time.

Ares issued the Ju 88 and Do 17 models with B bases. In the unofficial aircraft spreadsheet, I see them listed with HF bases. Custom aircraft cards that (I believe) OldGuy59 created for these planes appear to be B size. Whatever shall I do?

The P-38 Lightning is listed in the unofficial aircraft spreadsheet with an F base. OldGuy59 has created some lovely cards for this airplane, but when I size them to be 67 mm tall, they're 54 mm wide. Sup wid dat? Do I need a custom F base that's 25% wider?

    Thanks for enlightenment.

The official release of the Ju.88 was on a Bomber base, but the Do.17 was a Heavy Fighter base, IIRC.

LInk-> base size for models ?

As for the P-38 cards, I could check them for size, but they should be the correct size. Others have printed them, and I haven't heard of sizing porblems.

PS: The P-38 is a twin engined aircraft with a 52' wingspan. So I probably put it on an HF base, not an F base.

I checked my template for the P-38, and it isn't the same size ratio as the images of the official cards.

I'm gonna have to resize them.

Thanks for your reply Mike, and for the link. Ya right, I checked the Do 17 base, and it's an HF. Sorry to be a pest about the P-38 cards. I'd use them at 125% width, but resized would be even better, F or HF as you please. They say consistency is the bugaboo of small minds, and I'm easily frightened.

    Irv,
Thank you for keeping me accurate. I'll get on to my other cards and fix them, too.
