I'm having trouble with my internet service, so I'm going to post this in separate pieces as the web allows
This is my first bombing mission. Many thanks to forum members who provided explanations and guidance regarding the bombing rules. In the excitement of the game, I made errors. Also, i apologize for the poor quality of some of the photos.
The set up has two DH-4 bombers escorted by two Spad S-7 scouts. The DH-4s each carry two bombs and may each make two passes at the target area if necessary.
The opposing a/c are one Albatros D-III and two Roland D-VIa scouts. All a/c are represented by cards which I printed from forum files; interestingly, the Rolands use two different manuever decks.
The target area consists of two rail road station buildings on the west side of the tracks. Two ground MGs (B-firing) provide protection.
Two add protection to the bombers, I placed an A-firing MG on the east side of the river. The DH-4s and the Spads start at the south-east part of the mat. The German scouts start at the south west corner. I am managing the bombers and the Spads. Janet is managing the Alby and the Rolands.
Maneuver 1.1: tHE LEAD dh-4 strafes the ground MG which returns fire but immediately jams
Maneuver 1.2
The lead DH-4 makes a successful bomb drop.
Maneuver 1.3
Maneuver 2.1: Incredibly, as the lead DH-4 banks right, the ground MG strikes a devastating blow! BUT, at the same time, the Spad deals a death blow to the Alby!
DH-4 #2 takes fire as well.
The remaining DH attempts to bomb the larger building but misses
Maneuver 2.2: The DH banks left to circle around to attempt another bomb drop
A couple of moves later
The DH sets up for a second attempt to bomb the RR building....
The rookie observer fires on the Roland and scores!! Janet can't believe she drew another BOOM card!
The bomb hits the target!
The DH heads for home, but the Roland, its rudder jammed, unable to turn left, has no choice but to fly off the mat. End of game.
