Halfway through the month and nobody has painted anything? OK, here is the start of my pet project for this year, the Spanish Civil War - half a dozen Polikarpov I-16s and a Boeing 281.
The Moscas are a mix of HBM (previously having seen service in my Finnish Air Force before being stripped and re-painted) and 3D prints from Planeprinter files. The Boeing is also from Planeprinter. All the stripes and tail markings were hand painted, the codes and roundels from MiscMini's SCW ranges.
The Boeing is an interesting one; an export demonstrator was sent to Spain just before the war and got roped in to service. The paint scheme is a bit conjectural, photographic evidence shows it went over with the Olive Drab and yellow scheme; how long it stayed like that is anyone's guess. My guess would be "not long", as with that scheme they might as well have written "Target" on the top wing. Anywho, I took my inspiration from several model kits on the interweb showing this scheme, and it will fit nicely with my other early war stuff I intend to paint up, such as the Fury, Bulldog and Dewoitine D510.
