Question Proxy models, where can I get maneuver decks?

Hey there, I am new to the game, just bought the battle of Britain starter set. I was looking for extra planes to buy online but some of the ones I want are out of stock everywhere. My idea was to buy other brand's models and adapt them to the game, my question is, where can I then get the maneuver decks for example? is there any resource where we can maybe download the decks to print them afterwards? also I saw that some decks have different sizes. Same for bases and stats.
I would appreciate any help or recommendations you could offer, thanks!

    So, planes are easier.

Shapeways, and poaching from other games (like Blood Red Sky [BRS]), but all are unpainted, and BRS will need modification for peg mounts. Stands are available from Litko, or soon from Rival Skies in Australia. WWII scale is 1/200. There are people who have upscaled their planes to 1/144, as there are many, many more options for planes (almost all need to be built and painted. Very few prebuilt/painted, and they would be costly in quantity).

Maneuver decks are proprietary (Intellectual Property of Ares Games), and only legally available from buying miniatures from Ares Games, or from secondary markets (IE: evilBay). Some members have scanned files of decks that could be shared, but they will have to identify themselves, and PM negotiations will need to happen from there. Early WWII or slower planes use Mini-European sized maneuver decks (44 x 68mm). Fast, late WWII planes use standard playing card sized decks.

There isn't an easy answer, unfortunately, as Ares is a small company dealing with a niche game, limited resources and a small market share.

For planes, one might consider building cardstock (paper) models....many WW2 types at 1/100 scale at Ecard Models, which could be printed at 50%. The WW2 a/c would be relatively easy to build, require no painting, and best if all cost just a buck!

Also, Armaments in Miniature is a source of unpainted minis. Thread Link -> Proxies?

If you are going for paper, there are other options, if you have the patience...

Note: This is modified from an original desert camo version from the late, great Zio Prudenzio.

PS: Found a tribute site for the models! Link -> ZioPrudenzio - Airplanes Note: These plans are for 1/72 scale, so will need to be resized for 1/200.

Have you done any of the ecard models in 1/200, Larry?

I haven't myself, but here is a link to paper model forum with photos of a modeler's 1/200 scale collection. I would be willing to give it a try, though, and post a report.

Awesome, thanks for the detailed response. So for maneuver cards its only those 2 sizes? Any recommendation when it comes to scratch building bases?

ill point out that blood red skies cards are the same size as wog cards and make excellent backing for wog cards.

Both Sascha [Sashdash] and I have already done the cards in vector graphics, and have templates.

yes i saw them (nice work!)
still it is now images and not vectors anymore,

of course i could use your work to redo the vectors, (to be able to add my own background images for exemple...)

not sure you could send me a link with your vector files, but it will be great!

    thanks

Hiya, would you be kind enough to send me the link too please? I'm testing out some solo rules and some variety for my proxies to test with would be amazing.

Default Any way I could get the link to the vector cards?

These aides are very cool - it too would love to have access to vectored files - I have a very specific need for something like this as an aide.
My friend who is an avid gamer has already bought planes and has the decks needed but he has a vision disability that requires inverted color high contrast to be able to see things well.
Can you possiblhy provide me a link as well?

As an aside, if you don't mind the limited selection Sprue Brothers Models has Trumpeter 1/200 five-packs of B-25s, SBDs, TBDs and F4Fs for about 15-20 bucks each. I used to use the same company's 1/700 versions for custom paints and supply stretchers back in my Axis & Allies days.
