Here is a pre-Fall In teaser.

A young fellow at last year's Historicon in November flew like the devil. He has been consistant over the years of standing out with his flying skils. Last year he was labeled "Hell Spawn" for the path of destruction he left behind. I said I'd have a special plane for him at the next convention so I hope he attends.
I painted him a hot litle Albateos D.III. I have D.IIIs in two of my four WGF games so he'll have the chance to fly it. (Even if he is the other games I'll have him fly it.)

Well, my young friend loved getting his new plane until getting shot down twice in the first game. He accused me of giving him a cursed plane! I guess some people don't know how newly painted miniatures fare in their debuet. Ok, in the second game his 1st shot at long range gave a 5 pointer to his wife. His next shot gave out a boom! No longer cursed.

I had a great time and hope everyone in the games I ran enjoyed them. Photos coming soon....

Great paint job. Too bad you had such praise from his first game. Now he is Vet since he has lost more than one plane in a game.

Caudrons are slow but fun. They have an interesting rear gun mount!

Fall In - Saturday night -Titanic!

This game, obviously not a Wings game, I ran on Saturday evening at Fall In.

I designed this game close to 20 years ago. Players control either a ship or 2 icebergs. Icebergs move up to 2 spaces a turn and can only move N, S, E, W or stay in place. Ships can move up to 4 spaces a turn and have full range of movement. The ships are in a race from Britain to New York. The icebergs are out to sink the luxury liners.
The icebergs compete against the other bergs for scoring the most damage to the ships. The ships have to cross the Atlantic as quickly as possible, but damage counts against them. Sinking is considered very bad.

Damage is d6s rolled by the bergs whenever they collide with a ship. The number of dice are determined by from the direction they hit the ship and the ship’s speed.

11 joined in the race with one player controlling both a ship and 2 icebergs. Early on he gave everyone a good laugh with running his ship into his own iceberg! Just like flying two planes for some of us. His ship took the damage but no credit was given to the berg.

Setting up the start at Southampton. The ships ready to leave the pier with icebergs waiting off the coast. At this point there were 9 players but I coaxed in 2 more before we were too far into the game.

It didn’t take long to hear the crunch of metal against iceberg. There was even some crunch of metal against metal.

Midway through things opened up a bit as everyone tried their best not to collide with their own side.

The Empress of Russia takes a berg to the chin.

The Imperator gets sandwiched between a white berg and a green bearberg. There are random events with the possibility of the polar bear getting onto the ship. Sadly it didn’t happen in this game.

The race was tight as ships began to pull into New York.

The Titanic becomes very popular with the icebergs.

Thanks guys, but please put the puns on ice.

The ships are made from wooden kits. I found two kits, one for the Titanic and another for a modern cruise ship that I modified. One is scratch built (the Leviathan, 3 red stacks, black hull) as I wanted one larger than the Titanic.

It's a bit big but I want to make a boardgame version of it. A long way to go to think of kickstartering it!

We should be able to play this on Thursday nights. I've talked to Mike and he's game. Just have to make a version that would fit on his table.
