Down to 2 players this week due to illness. I wanted to try my new "Alpine" mat which is really the MIG alley one from https://www.deepcutstudio.com so Windy Jack and I decided to just do a one on one over the Alps for our first game. Windy (in the Italian plane) soon got the measure of my Austrian persona and knocked me off within 30 minutes!
In our second game we decided to both go Nieuport and Windy had the silver N17 while I had a linen coloured N11. The UFAG using the auto movement rules was pounded early by Windy who was obliged to stand off when he got down to 1 damage point remaining. My N11 had no damage points at that stage and closed in for the kill. That game lasted a lot longer due in part to the disparity in aircraft speeds. The UFAG was very difficult to catch using the much slower Nieuports and the auto movements made it impossible to anticipate his movements. At the start of this game we discussed whether or not to give the UFAG a 360 degree rear gunner due to the disparity in point value but the game ended up to be a very close one without doing that.
Overall we were both happy with our mountain scenery mat and will use it for other battles in the future.
