WoG - "Somme"times you Win...

Hi guys!

A few weeks back my bride posted yet another album on her Facebook page showing a WoG game we'd recently played. Figured I'd share it with you all...ENJOY!



ANOTHER rainy day...but that's OK, we're self-quarantined anyway...so why not turn on all our lights, pull out a couple old canvas falcons...




...and fly a mission over enemy lines? Snoopy, a newcomer, will be my observer




Mike and i will both fly photo recon missions over each other's trenches with two objectives. we need to bring photos back to our own lines but have to also stop our opponent from doing so.




today i'll be flying a British Sopwith 1-1/2 Strutter...




...it's a two-seater




Snoopy and i will soar like birds in this...




...while Mike will be flying an Albatross...also a two-seater...hmmm, i wonder who HIS observer is




...so Snoopy and i fly onto the battlefield...




...and meet our enemy coming toward us...hmmm, do we attack him or continue to fly on toward our objective?




Mike chooses his next card...what's he planning?




and as we pass each other Snoopy and Mike's observer duel it out...but poor Snoopy's gun jams




Mike keeps going toward our trenches so Snoopy gets our camera ready as i maneuver toward our first objective.




rats!!! i'm flying too high to take our pictures!!! so i dive down to at least make a pass toward our second objective...in the meantime Mike is approaching his first...




...i get a great batch of photos over our second objective. yesss!!!




as Snoopy and i circle around for our next pass at our first objective, Mike's Albatross swings ahead of us in a menacing way.




...and his observer fires a deadly burst at our Sopwith, causing it to smoke...aaaand wounding Snoopy.




fortunately, "'tis but scratch" so as we pass, Snoopy is able to get even as he sets Mike's Albatross alight! HA, take THAT!!!




Mike is able to get the last photos of his mission...




...but his flaming plane suddenly disintegrates (he certainly didn't see that coming)!!!




we did a lot of flying around each other but gun jams kept plaguing us both...




...i guess we just got a little luckier than Mike!!!




we were finally able to stop our smoke, get our second batch of photos and fly back to our drome in peace. yayyyy




so stay tuned everybody...Snoopy will heal and join me again!!!


As you can see, my wife is a bit of a photojournalist. Thank God...or I'd probably never have anything to share on this site!!!

Nice AAR Mike, give your missus some REP for that !
Kind of you to let Snoopy carry on rather than leave him bleeding in the bottom of his cockpit. You paid a heavy price for that.

Snoopy, as we all know, was later an ace flying another Sopwith product. But a lot of the World War I aces started as observers.
