    Default August 2022 Workbench

Didn't seem to be an August workbench thread yet, so here goes.
Finally got around to doing a project I've been wanting to do for awhile now.
replacing the long gone canopy from my favorite diecast toy jet from my childhood.

took a lot of fitting and filing a piece of tapered acrylic post to get the fit right.
thought about repainting it but i like the "been there, done that" look acquired from rough childhood handling. brings back fond memories!

My own "willow run" for a future combat box project ( FW190( 6/8) against B-24 (8))
A few more paint jobs to do (port and starboard windows), a propeller and machine guns to repair (these things are fragile) and they're off to battle.
    Décals 1/144 from kitsworld
B-24 of the 486th group "Zodiacs"

    Nice work, Fox.
Dibs on "Leo" (wishing I could get these decals in 1/200).

    thank you Karl
Perhaps you can ask Kits world to do them in 1/200 ? I suppose it's not difficult to reduce them.

With high detailed pics of the nose art, I could take a stab at doing homemade, though my luck with them has been poor.
Since they don't sell any 1/200 scale decals, they probably wont, but I can ask.

    Default Stripes!

This month I have been going slightly mad trying to paint up some me Typhoons and Tempests. So many recognition stripes! This particular one with Operation Starkey markings might as well be a zebra.

Beautiful fleet of B-24s Fox. They should be able to do some damage to the Reich.

Here are a pair of Fokker D.VIIs I've done on commission. They are the last of a set of 5 Jasta 40 I've done for Dan.

Shapeways planes, J40 decals by Larry Gill. Not sure who did the camo decals, Dan sent them to me. If he know their creator I hope he can supply that info.
Various paints used to match the camo for the wing edges, Vallejo, AK Interactive and craft.

Beautiful B-24s, Fox, but IIRC a Box was usually built around twelve planes (two vics), not eight.

Another Baltic Bob Lithuanian LVG CVI

This is the second Shapeways LVG CVI two-seater airplane I’ve painted in 1919 Lithuanian colors (the first is in the Painting Showcase). The LVG was a major part of the Lithuanian air wing involved in the Lithuanian Wars of Independence.

Love the B-24's, saw the Willow Run and remember doing airshows back there in the 80's. Buddy of my dads flew us up there for lunch in the Officers club (was a restaurant back then). Not that far from here but have not been back in decades. Our pilot was an ex B24 pilot from WWII who spent 2 years in a German POW camp and had been awarded the DFC during the war. Unfortunately like my dad he is no longer with us.

I have been so quiet lately and now I see what I have been missing. Great work as always by all.
