Syborg 3D Printing
I have now invested in a Resin 3D Printer and will changing my models from 2 part FDM printed to 1 piece resin printed. The website will be updated with the models as I get them tested.
WW1 Aircraft are done and I am now working on 1/200 WW2 aircraft, which I should have done for Colours in September.
i will be visiting Attack 2022 in Devizes to show some samples.

These are some Syborg resin models. The D VII is alongside a Ares model to see the differences. Although notably the top wing texture is always missing on all resin models from both Syborg and Paint and Glue miniatures. Overall I think they paint up well and would recommend either supplier. The cost is the big factor of £4 per model, the AEG bomber cost £10, I think they are workable on a table top. If I compare the level of variation in models to say 1/100 minis they are as good if not better.
Hmmm, the Sopwith Tripewings look a tad thick to me, but the spacing are far better than the official version, in my most humble that is.
Was lucky enough to see close hand some of Syborgs, Alb D2 and an Eindecker at Devizes show last weekend, both which looked fine to me.

I think the wing thickness is a red herring as its probably my photos that are bad.
Actually the designs for both Paint and Glue and Syborg are mostly by the same person and the models are identical although I think Paint and Glue have a better control of the resin mix but Syborg are faster at delivery and have a bigger range. I have now painted around 20 models and I'm very happy with them. They are 144 scale and so there are always compromises for instance the EIII has very thick undercarriage and is missing 2 struts I replaced these with plastirod and they look good.
I picked up some of your earlier printed ww1 planes at Partizan last may. Although they were very basic, I have managed to salvage them into quite presentable models now.
I think they look great in the resin format.
We desperately need a uk produced affordable and decent 3d print manufacturer, and I think you could be on to something here...
Shapeways is expensive. Everytime I fill a basket on their website it ends up pushing at least 100 euros (just for 2-3 aircraft)... It's ridiculous!

Hi there Jim, not sure if you were aware but unfortunately Simon (Syborg3D) passed away in the October of last year. I am unaware whether or not his company has continued without him.

They are indeed continuing to trade.
I posted something to that effect after the Farnborough show, where they had an enlarged Trade Stand (don't remember where I posted it, though!).
Simon's deputy (Richard???) has taken over; he said he would have to get up to speed with the actual printing side of things, but when that was sorted they would be taking Internet orders again.

Very sad news about Simon - I think I spoke to him at a couple of shows last year.
I picked up some 1:144 scale models from them at Colours last September (a Sopwith Tripe, a Fokker DR1 and an FE2B - which looks HUGE after gaming with 1:300 aircraft for most of last year!) and they are very nice models. I asked them recently about converting down to 1:300 and they said they could do so for their entire WW1 range, which I suspect is the route I shall take as I want to play "Algy" from Too Fat Lardies, as well as WoW/WoG.
Syborg are down to have a stand at "Colours" on Saturday; I've emailed them twice for pre-show orders, but not had a reply to either. Anyone know anything about what is happening with them?

Good to see you all at Newbury, yesterday. Fantastic game - well umpired, Hu Rhu! - and thanks to Tony(?) for putting me straight on all the rules which I had forgotten (by which I mean I had forgotten all of the rules!).
I had no qualms at all about shooting down an aircraft piloted by what I think was a 7-year-old! (Well, hey - if my near namesake can shoot up a 'plane piloted by a Beagle.....)

The Syborg 3d website now states that no more orders are being taken and refunds issued to those who had placed orders, they are no more.
Saw that and a comment that Simon had passed on !!

That's not what the website says...
It says "Currently" not taking orders, and monies already accepted are being refunded.
That implies a future restart, not the company's demise.
It might mean a trading hiatus, perhaps for a couple of months or so...
It will be worth keeping an eye on it, to see what the future holds.

Of course I did - they were well worth the very low price asked for, and some are in the Painting Showcase threads.
Most are still in my "to-be-done" pile.
