Thread: Best Pusher Aircraft in WWI?

Default Best Pusher Aircraft in WWI?

    Was it the Macchi M.5?

Depends on the parameters you want to measure the best by. If you go by versatility, numbers, length of service then the RAF FE2 series may be considered the best. If it's just based on performance then maybe it's the Macchi.

In terms of performance is what I meant.

I know that the M.5 won’t fit the other criteria; what with only 210 being made.

Then it's probably the best pusher, good turn of speed & regarded as extremely manoeuvrable and agile enough to be a match for the land-based aircraft it had to fight. It would likely stack up well against most in a 'best of' category.

I forgot that that was even a pusher. That makes sense. It was the most successful German bomber, too, no?

As a night harassment aircraft, yes.

But beware of Wikipedia, it's FULL of errors!

I'd plump for the FE2b; but then you only have to look at my avatar to see that!

I know; that's why I ran it by the experts, before accepting it as fact.
