Default GAMES EXPO 2022 Birmingham NEC 3rd-5th June

I know we are not at this event in an official capacity (will see what we can do about that next year), but I wondered if anyone was planning on attending? I have a ticket for the Saturday and it would be nice to see some familiar faces (other than the car full of headcases I am taking down).

I hadn't planned to go, but now my other plans have all fallen through, I just might after all.

I'm there with my family for the full weekend. Not sure how it will go with the 3.5 year old!

Brilliant... hopefully we will see you there.

So does anyone know anything about the 'Big WW1 Wings of Glory' participation game that ARES are running at this year's EXPO?

Quite gobsmacked we haven't been asked to support this, or haven't received a polite notification or invite. Have to confess I am not impressed as without us the game would be deader than a very dead dodo...

    Hmmmmm

Might be fun to roll up as a 'ringer', then massacre everyone in sight...

Why does this surprise you? Two year's ago (or whenever the last Expo was held) Ares teamed up with another group to tout their games and didn't contact us about it.

Just don't wear your Wings T-shirt, bit of a giveaway......

I will be there helping a friend on the Surprised Stare games stand (come by to say hello if you are there). If I'm not doing a shift I might head over to the Ares WoG game to see whats on

Roberto will be at Games Expo in person, so if you are attending, wear your polo shirts and say hello !

Roberto is a fine guy & supporter of our events (and he's trying to resuscitate our game now, btw). I guess an extra blue T-shirt can help a lot

Been out of the loop for some years thanks to Military commitments and Covid, but I will be at the UK Games Expo actually working as a demonstrator for Ares Games for the whole weekend and should be helping run the Sunday WoW/WoG event. I will take my blue polo shirt just in case I can swop from the Red Ares shirt. Be great to see whoever turns up :-)

If you do, don't be surprised if this is very rules/tactics light!

Worked for them at the Expo before covid when they had the huge Battlestar Galactica game going. Was fortunate to be selected to work for them again this year.

    Lucky man.
I'm going to speak with Roberto on Saturday and see if we can't get brought into the loop moving forward.
See you Saturday, hope you can find a space round the table for a few of us...

3 for 2 on wings at the Ares stand. Nothing too rare spotted on the shelves, though there were some hurricanes which I haven't seen in UK stock for a while.

Balloons at the Ares stand. I also bumped into Chris. Will be back in the morning for the "Battle of Birmingham".

    Oooooh, Balloons!

I'll be wanting a couple of them!

Good luck in the Battle of Birmingham!

Alas the balloons weren’t for sale, just said ‘due September 2022’... unfortunately wasn’t able to speak to Roberto, he was in meetings all morning and was busy demonstrating the new War of the Ring card game all afternoon.

Seems close to the original to me. On the other hand, Nexus Yellow is probably the most eye-catching thing on the whole table. Prooved many times with muggles.

The colours aren't quite so vivid and shiny in person.

The "Battle of Birmingham" seemed to go pretty well with a good diverse crowd of participants. There were a few youngsters emptying their parents wallets in the Ares shop afterwards!

Absolute blast at the Expo. Had lots of people enjoying demos of Wings and Sails and the large event went great on the Sunday with every participant walking away with some sort of prize.

Great to see Hedeby, David Manley and Woof over the weekend and look forward to seeing you all in the skies soon.

Any idea why we were not invited to put on a game of Wings or Sails Carl?
