I think they are calling it Lufthansa now. But if you are worried, you can go by train. In my experience, train from Rome to Prague is quite comfortable.

There is a news that may change our event a little, hope in a good way. As you probably know from European Wings of Glory tournament, 10th to 12th of June in Rome, there is a new project called "Wings of Glory European Master". Basic idea is cooperation between Prague - Rome - Doncaster (did somebody said "Axis"? ) in general.

The key point is a mini WGF campaign - I am attaching Tournament Rules and we both (Kubajs and me) want to try to organize it during this year (probably during Saturday).

What do you think, fellow pilots?

As far as Doncaster is concerned, I am no longer involved in the organisation, but would ask the organisers to consider, time, paperwork, and space. Plus the number of administrators required to run such an event within what is meant to be a laid back weekend.

You're right, Rob: administration can be painful, especially with two and more tables. Hope we'll stick to one table for WWI campaign and the rest can still be WWI and WWII free playing. Good thing is there are just very simply damage rules with no specials and no cards (fighters 3/2 and twoseaters 2/1 in short/long range). I imagine it little similar to MvR campaign in 2018.

Chris was in Cc:, so he should be informed. And he can improve potential Doncaster part with our (Prague + Rome) experience.

Sounds like a good idea (if a little admin heavy), let’s see how it goes in Prague.
Are you planning on running this Dan?

I have already booked my spot for the Italian tournement Sounded to good to miss, that and a week sight seeing in Rome.

Yes, if Francesco allows & if it helps to something (for example Rome event). I should attend both sessions, so I'll keep you updated (Paul too). I'm waiting for more information now, just updated the very first post according to Francesco's request.

Btw, I guess Doncaster Ace of Aces is admin heavier and don't expect troubles on your side. Very basic rules (pages 1-10) and no damage cards simplifie the whole business a lot.

  16. #66

    Default

T he nice thing about the rules for the tournement is that there's no damage cards, special hits or booms , simple points of damage for the short and long range , so no Ace of Aces organised panic
With teams of 3 a side it should only take 2 people to referee the scoring for each mission .
There will be plenty of feed back before Doncaster and there is an "International" turn out so no reason not to give it a go

Paul, do I understand well there is no damage for collisions? Just fire restrictions?

  18. #68

    Default

No fires, Boom card, gun jams, pilot hits or rudder hits. As for collisions I assume they are discounted as well!! No altitude or tailing, or second fire at same target bonus.
I think the organisers want it to be simple to manage and reliant on pilot skill.

Andrea asked me about few words about artisanal breweries in Prague and I can not resist and here are the results even for you:

    • U Medvídků (📍Na Perštýně 5): very famous and right in the city centre, recommend a reservation.
    • Pivovarský dům Benedikt (📍Ječná 15): a fine place with typical "pub" cousine right on the Tram 22 line from centre to the Con site.
    • Svatý Norbert (📍Strahovské nádvoří 301): not quite in the city centre, but perfect for combination with Prague Castle visit - just two tram stops or 15 minutes walk away in Strahov monastery right next to Petřín hill and park.
    • Břevnovský pivovar (📍Markétská 1): my secret tip. It is inside of Břevnov monastery outside of the city centre (even farer than Strahov Monastery), but it is still possible to get there easily with a tram. There is a superb restaurant (ar at least it was few years ago), very charming a peaceful place. Recommend for an evening dinner.

Of course, there are plenty of "beer bars" with literary tens of different beers on tap changing every day. For example Kulový blesk and Zlý časy or special pubs like Dno pytle (Bag's End) and Pivo a párek (literary Beer and sausage), all of them easily accesible by tram or two.

I guess Kobajs and Honza would have plenty of other tips

The bad news is "U Medvídků" has gone big time down the hill. It is really bad now.
The good news is we still have Café Louvre - https://www.cafelouvre.cz which is excellent.

The Roman event is being planned as very tourist-friendly, with games on mornings and free play or free tourism in afternoons.
Alas, the Italian Air Force Museum is closed for a deep renovation, it will be opened again in March 2023 for the 100 years of IAF. It could have been a nice trip, otherwise.

Yes we want the easiest rules to allow beginners to take part and to make the game as smooth as possible. Besides, a fixed amount of damages keeps away the luck factor. Each damage point inflicted is due to skill and intuition, and so it is immediately transformed into a victory point.
The system has been used with success in several local tournaments before.

Scoring can be very easily tracked on such sheets:

For the bombing scenario, a variant of Honza's hospital has been adopted. We put it in a separate but adjacent card, with strong penalties if you bomb even a little part of it.

But the Ufag of Massimo, at his first experience as a bomber, perfectly destroyed the target anyway.

    Lightbulb

    Dear friends,
    I have an update.

    1. Time schedule
      1. Friday starts at 17:00, LGS will be open from 16:00; 1 mission slot (90-120 minutes), than debriefing.
      2. Saturday starts at 11:00 with Gutovka opening times; 3 mission slots (120 minutes), than debriefing.
      3. Sunday starts at 10:00; 1 mission slot (90-120 minutes), than debriefing or possibility to try a another game from Láďa's collection (to be confirmed).
    2. European Masters
      1. According to rules mission should have at least 45 minutes. These are very simple, so I expect we can play all 4 EM missions in the first 2 slots on Saturday.
      2. Raise a hand who want to participate this experiment. I expect 8-10 players (and raising my hand also). I'll take care about administration.
    3. Venue and food
      1. We have to pay a fee for a reservation, please, be so kind and prepare few Euros / CZK for voluntary donation (i guess everything between 10 a 15 Euros would be awesome).
      2. I also promised the lady from restaurant to send you something like pre-list of what they should prepare for you. Later today (or tomorrow) I'll post menu (standard, pizza and grill) and kindly ask you to tell me about your order if you are able to do it in advance - it should speed up preparation of your meals (well, breaks would be about an hour, so it could be difficult to get your lunch / dinner in this time slot), but it is not mandatory.
    4. Others
      1. You can expect a name tag as usal. Maybe there will be a small gift from an active member of Prague Flight.
      2. List of available minis of Prague Flight for your missions.
      3. In case you did not noticed yet: Andrea should be there so if you have a special request / question / something for sign, bring it with you.

I can host a mission as GM, depend on what's needed WW I or WW II, 8 to 10 players.

No, there are only few pilots, mostly foreigners. Czech pilots do not follow this thread much. I am going to prepare a sheet and let you sign up for them on Friday and Saturday. KISS this time (Keep It Simple Stupid), there should be just about 30 players in total for whole weekend, many of them only for one day.

Paul, in case of badge 2019 a 2020, are you willing to take them to Doncaster? Many of them belongs to UK pilots.
