AAR #1 On one of the islands of the Adriatic, the Italians have established a AA-gun site and a B-firing AA machine gun. Austro-Hungarian command has ordered that these defenses be destroyed. I am flying a Hansa-Brandenburg W.13 with bomb load and Ben is flying the Oeffeg Type H of Gottfried Banfield as escort cover.



CrashCraig is flying a Nieuport 11 and Todd a Macchi M.5 to help defend the island.



When we had our first exchange of gunfire, I realized I had not pulled out damage decks for the game. While getting those, Craig said "Pull out smoke and fire markers, too." Talk about Chekov's gun, one my first damage card I am on fire! This calls for some tricky flying since I cannot play a straight while on fire.



Earlier, Todd asked if the Boom card caused half damage and I said no. Well, my second A card drawn for the fire caused a massive KABOOM.
Ben will just have to strafe the Italian defenses.



Ben inflicts a single point of damage on the AA machine gun. However the Italian pilots are approaching his starboard side.



Ben plays a stall so that he can inflict more damage on the AA machine gun, but he has been set on fire.



And his first card for fire damage is enough to cause Ben to come crashing to the ground. The Italian defenses have survived for another day.

AAR #2 Meanwhile, over the North Sea, a Felixstowe F2A (flown by Todd) encounters a mixed bag of German seaplanes: a Rumpler 6B1 (Ben), a Brandenburg KDW (Craig) and an Albatros W.4 (myself).



Jockeying for position.



And the Rumpler goes down. I believe Ben was hit by an A-gun and two B-guns on two consecutive exchanges, then a pause where Todd picked on me, then back to Ben for the same punishment. The Felixstowe is the "Flying Fortress" of World War I.



Craig and I approach from the port side. Craig is low and shooting up at the bottom of the hull. I think Craig is hoping he will put enough holes in the Felixstowe's hull so that it will sink upon landing (if it should survive this encounter). [Actually, the last time we used these planes, I snapped the glued on peg for the KDW and failed to reattach. Craig thought playing really low would be fun.]



Now, my Albatros hits the drink. Todd thought I must have drawn every "No right turn" in the deck. However, we play with double decks and Todd inflicts both A and B damage, so there are number of "No right turn" cards. Also I hit Todd for two A damage cards, one of which was gun jammed. Adding insult to injury.



After this, I was putting some things away. When I returned, the Felixstowe was on fire! Maybe the German's will win this time.



And the Felixstowe is dead. The boom card caused 1/2 damage, but setting it on fire really did it in.



Craig survives. His boom card, which came very early in the game, was also 1/2 damage.

Great scenario and AAR. What did you use for the machine gun?

Just a B-firing card. The AA gun is one of Craig's models.
