French Great War website

I stumbled upon a website called POUR EUX CEUX DE 14. (Ok, to be honest, I don’t speak French so I’m guessing that's the name.) It has GREAT period (and some modern) photos from all aspects of the war on the Western Front; troops, planes, tanks, memorials, etc. You can spend a few hours looking through everything. The main site is HERE.

Some Highlights (click the title):

German planes and pilots. Some great shots of the Aces and their planes (plus “regular” pilots). Nice shots of Voss and his DRI. Includes pictures of Boelcke’s funeral and memorial.

German balloons and Zepps. Great picture of a balloon taking rocket hits and the observer bailing out. There is a nice shot of the upper gun position on a Zepp and a rather macabre shot of the dent left in the ground from a fallen Zepp crew member.

French planes and pilots. Love the first shot of the priest blessing the Morane. Plus the look on the guys face doing the parachute hang test is priceless (“Why am I here?!”)

American planes and pilots. Sadly, not much here…

British planes, balloons and pilots. Lots of balloon shots and not much in the way of planes.

Great period photos, but LOTS of caption errors; mistaken plane types, mistaken pilots, mistaken crews aircraft schemes...shame, otherwise it would have made a fantastic resource.
