Summary: In the comics Angel Wings, Yann and Hugault plunge us into the turmoil of the Second World War on the Burmese front between sabotage, rescue missions for pilots and enemy attacks. Yann's script places particular emphasis on the fate of women in America at war. Angela Mac Cloud is rebellious, but as a woman of her time, she accepts her condition, which will only change when the men on the base see her courage. This strange aviatrix is a WASP but she also knows how to fight, how to handle a gun and how to survive in the Burmese jungle. The storyline revolves around the death of her sister, an aviator like her.
Personal opinion : The main problem is the aerial battle sequences which are integrated into the story without enriching the plot. The only interest of some of these illustrations lies in the variety of planes and the historical details about the front in Asia (daily life of a soldier on the Eastern Front, radio propaganda policy of Japan, customs of the native tribes...).
Romain Hugault's illustrative talents unfortunately took more importance than the coherence of the scenario.
I found that the scenario of the previous album on the WW2 Russian front "Le grand duc" is more successful, because all the events of the scenario follow naturally ( https://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sh...ight=Grand+duc ).
