Took on the challenge of a single Zeppelin Staaken with the children. They had a Bristol Fighter each and I had a SAML. The giant moved with automatic movement and fired at the closest target.
First, we all headed towards the enemy:
First blood. Helpfully, one of the gunners was taken out in the first few exchanges of fire:
Manoeuvring after initial contact:
Along with one of the Fighters, the SAML came in on the tail of the Staaken to trade shots with it:
With its front guns jammed, the Fighter did an immelmann on my advice in attempt to bring it's rear gun to bear. This turned out to be a mistake and this aircraft spent the rest of the game trying to catch up again!
With a mere 4 hit points left and the bomber approaching the end of the table, I confidently asserted that this one was in the bag... Then the SAML's short range attack drew 2 zero damage cards and a gun jam!
With his comrades still out of range and his guns jammed, the Italian pilot's only chance was to turn in the hope that his observer would be able to score a hit before it was too late...
Defeat was snatched from the jaws of victory as the giant escaped off the table, leaving the impotent SAML with both its guns jammed!!!
