Thread: hello, better late than never :-)

Default hello, better late than never :-)

    Hello et bonjour,

New pilot here :-) contacting you from the france, just outside of Niort.

guess what I got for christmas... yes you are correct in saying: chocolate, jafa cakes and socks (when did I get to that age!) ;-) But I also got Tripods and Triplanes. I am a very big fan of HG wells and have been making wood modles of WW1 planes for a cople of years now...

I had my first trial (solo) run and thought to myself that it would be a good idea to find a forum...

I'm quite surprised to see how long this game has been around.. Its a bit of a shame I have only just discovered it.

I'm quite a modle geek, especially when making gaming tables, over the last 30 years I have done a lot of 28mm (Gamesworkshop scale) so scaling down to 1/144 will be interesting (although at a first glance I'm not certain that the "decors" is at the same scale as the planes....)

    chat soon

Welcome from sunny Australia. Our little group of 4 play regularly and Tripods hits the table reasonably frequently. Lots of fun but you need to watch the balance to have a good game.

Good to have you at the Drome Yann. Welcome to you from here in misty Notts.

If you have a look at the AARs for the games in the Solo Campaigns Forum you will find many ways of deciding on the scale for your table top games. I use three main scales, full size of 144, for landing grounds etc; where models will be actually taking off or landing. Something like 1: 400 scale for ground attack on ships, buildings etc, and the play mat scale for aerial combats.
I hope that gives you some food for thought.

    Fly safe.
    Rob.
