Default Another one for the department of dumb questions

I was thinking (I can hear my squad mates groaning) about a movie I would like to watch again about a carrier task group that goes through a time warp and ends up near Hawaii before tha Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Trouble is that I have forgotten the name of the movie but anyway ......

Has anyone done a cross over game where maybe a flight of WGS Spitfires or similar ends up in the middle of a formation of WGF German Gotha bombers and their escorts? I know it is ridiculous but it might be entertaining.

"The Final Countdown" - Kirk Douglas

It's impossible to intermix WGF and WGS - since the scales are different, so also the movement distance arrows on the cards are to their own scale; 1/200 for WGS and 1/144 for WGF
Thus all the WW2 planes would be flying much too slowly in comparison to their WW1 opponents.

I loved that movie as a boy...

Trouble with scale can be solved with reduction of maneuvre card size from WGF in PC (I remember how easily can be Me.262 simulated despite the big speed gap between it and other WWII machines). Maybe number of HP would be an issue?

Definitely - as would the RoF for the more modern WW2 machine guns, and how to determine the effect of cannon fire on WGF machines?

I think ‘shredded’ is the word that comes to mind!

The number of machine guns is also a huge problem...

In WGF a single 7.62mm MG fires as a 'B' card, and two as an 'A' card.
In WGS, a single 7.62mm MG fires as an 'A' chit, and two such weapons also fire as an 'A' chit!

A Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIa, converted to WGF cards, would fire its 12 7.62mm MGs as 12 'B' cards! Or 6 'A' cards!

Then there's the range differential to consider, and whether it changes the number of cards, as it does the number of chits, etc etc

It's all too much for my little brain - but if you REALLY want to combine them, cook up an all-inclusive system and give it a go.

My original Carriers at War PC game had a Final Countdown scenario.

I used to play it after getting totally frustrated with one of the other 'real' scenarios.
It was a fast playthrough ...

I got the updated version that will run on modern machines last year, but they don't include it any more.

Hah, I loved The Final Countdown as a kid, but it's been a couple decades since I've watched it.. wonder how it still holds up?

    Where's the too-hard basket gone?

great movie. still have a vhs copy around somewhere.

if the difficulties could be overcome, a wgf/wgs crossover certainly would be interesting. if brief lol.
