AAR #1 - Jingle Bells, Machine Gun Shells or Red Sleigh Down CrashCraig flew an HO scale Santa and Sleigh and BalticBob flew a tiny Snoopy as escort. Preventing Santa from making it across the map was Todd with a Fokker D.VII, John with a Fokker Dr.I, and I had a Rumpler C.IV.



Attackers are closing on Santa.



Santa is flying an erratic course across the map, but Snoopy is sticking with him. Santa's course has thrown me for a loop.



Santa is now heading for me and I'm getting an itchy trigger finger.



Santa slips past me, but my observer gets a shot on him.



Todd inflicts the final damage on Santa. Then Todd says, "Shall we shoot down the puppy?"



John inflicts the final damage on Snoopy.



Should we really be awarding the Pour Le Merite for shooting down a dog. That's just adding insult to injury.

AAR #2 Our second holiday scenario was a dogfight with red and green airplanes, well greenish. Craig flew a red Fokker Dr. I and John had a green captured Sopwith Camel. BalticBob had a Sopwith Camel, Todd flew a Spad XIII and I flew a SE5a. I'm afraid I didn't get many photos during this dogfight. At one point Craig and I had to draw two A damage cards for close range attack. I ask Craig if he wanted the first A card or the second. He said "I laugh in the face of death." After looking at the card, he muttered, "Oh, crap" As you can see, Craig didn't fair well.



Todd is smoking, but John is on fire.



John is toast. So the Allies won this match up.

AAR #3 - Gotha bombing Todd flew the Gotha bomber, and CrashCraig flew a Hanover CI.III as escort. There were three target cards at the opposite end of the mats defending by three Sopwith Camels from the RNAS.

One of us is trying to swing around the Gotha.



Some overlap here. That makes it tough to fire at the enemy.



BalticBob passes the Hanover CL.III and closes on the Gotha.



Todd successfully bombs one target, however the resulting explosion seems quite small. Perhaps it was a tiny ammo dump.



Todd swings towards a second target even though he is on fire.



One of the Sopwith Camels draws the Boom card as Todd tries to bomb a second target.



Another Sopwith takes it on the chin.



A lone Sopwith Camel heads for the burning Gotha.



And the Gotha bomber finally succumbs to all the damage before reaching its second target.

Even though it is World War 2 based, I wanted to use this picture for the lead of the first AAR. It is by the late Mark E. Rogers and part of his Samurai Cat series.

Love a good Santa scenario. We traditionally play a Santa scenario every Christmas so ours is timed for Tuesday December 21.

Our little group of 4 meets regularly on Tuesday nights and we have a ball.
