Historicon game 7
Aerodrome Raid
Jasta 30 sent a flight of six Pfalz D.IIIas to raid the USAS aerodrome behind the lines across from them. They timed the raid when the aerodrome’s planes were off on their own missions. The Germans didn’t count on a neighboring squadron to be in the area when they got there.
Jasta 30 can see the target aerodrome when they spot a flight of N28s heading their way.
Some Germans head for the aerodrome while some turn to engage the Americans.
Two of the Americans figure out what the Hun are up to and head towards the aerodrome.
The red Pfalz turns orange and black. His risky maneuver distracted a pair of Americans but he paid for it.
The aerodrome braces for the attack.
The strafing begins.
A frustrated American can dive down fast enough to stop the destruction.
The real action!
The free for all sends everybody into a tangled knot.
A second Pfalz ignites but the ground guns jam for their effort.
Bad luck for the American is good luck for the German. Just missing a chance to shoot frustrated the N28 pilot.
Where are the Americans?
The ground crew continue to do more damage than the American aircraft.
Bob (#9) finally gets on the tail of a Pfalz getting in a good shot.
The Americans were still a bit above the Hun and having a difficult time coming to grips with them.
Evasive maneuvers as two enemy race towards each other firing at very close range.
More J30 planes approach the melee at the airfield.
Pfalz 6 catches an American on the tail over a badly damaged hangar.
The aerodrome is gutted. Jasta 30 did it’s work with pleasure and precision. The Americans did take down their share of Germans but the complete loss of all the hangars.
The young American squadron did their best but could not stop the veteran attackers.
Victory to the Germans!
