Thread: Battle of the S’s

  1. #1

    Default Battle of the S’s

Someone recently mentioned in a post that we don’t see the Siemens-Schuckerts very often. I decided to rectify that by choosing this simple scenario – two Siemens-Schuckerts versus two R.A.F. SE5a’s.
(As usual I have only provided photographs of the encounters between planes.)

The first encounter was a bit one sided, and the imbalance was made worse when the Siemens-Schuckert’s gun jammed.

One Siemens-Schuckert is down after firing only one shot!

Now the shoe is on the other foot as an SE5a takes medicine, but can’t give any.

It’s hard to chase one SE5a when the other one is ramming into you.

And an SE5a takes just a bit too much ‘take’ and heads for the ground.

Nice little set to there Doug, funnily enough we had a similar game to that at Flight Club last weekend with nine players involved:

It was a great fight between two evenly matched aircraft types. Well done.

Quick and bloody; interesting that the disparate aircraft performances can produce an evenly-matched set-up.

    Enjoyable game.
On the last picture, two zero damage cards have a +1 token.
Have they been counted as zero ?
The Aim bonus considers zero damage card as zero.

It would not have mattered. There are 16 damage points showing for the SS (counting +1 on the 1 damage).
So how many books are in your personal library?

They probably have been. The total damage received adds up to 16, including all '0' cards as zero.

In the UK at least, we routinely mark all damage cards received @+1 with a '1' counter, just to show which of the damage cards received were inflicted with the Aim Bonus, but we obviously don't add in any '1' counters to the total damage accrued when they are delivered in conjunction with a '0' card.

Tight battle to the end. Either or both planes could have been downed on the last shot!

The LOVE the Siemens-Schuckerts!! I love using them when ever I get the chance. Typically in Late War game scenarios.

Yes, all the zeroes drawn on a +1 shot were counted as zero. I like to put a +1 token on them for the photographs just to indicate the luck of the player who got no added score, even though their opponent was shooting at them for a second (or subsequent) time.
