Someone recently mentioned in a post that we don’t see the Siemens-Schuckerts very often. I decided to rectify that by choosing this simple scenario – two Siemens-Schuckerts versus two R.A.F. SE5a’s.
(As usual I have only provided photographs of the encounters between planes.)
The first encounter was a bit one sided, and the imbalance was made worse when the Siemens-Schuckert’s gun jammed.
One Siemens-Schuckert is down after firing only one shot!
Now the shoe is on the other foot as an SE5a takes medicine, but can’t give any.
But the other SE5a can …
Two onto one doesn’t seem fair, but then this is war.
That’s better; a bit of give and take!
It’s hard to chase one SE5a when the other one is ramming into you.
Some more give and take.
Or just give, or take, depending on which end of the trajectory you are!
Ditto
And an SE5a takes just a bit too much ‘take’ and heads for the ground.
Now the odds have evened up – 1 on 1.
But it has to end at some time: the Siemens-Schuckert is down.
The final positions and scores.
